Rutgers is ranked, UC isnt. why Rutgers +6???

I know its home field for UC, but it seems fishy for them to be -6 against a ranked team. Especially since theyre starting a new qb. I'm going to this game as a UC fan but may have to load up on Rutgers. Thoughts?

Don't worry about rankings and Heisman trophy nonsense. Those things are for college football "fans" and little kids. Worry about what you made the line for the game and what the line is to see whether there is any value in making a bet on the game. If you feel there is good value then bet the game, if not, just pass and look for something else.

I hear ya. Just seems like an odd line. Like rm18 said, maybe a trap? Havent capped the game yet but did see Phil Steele has the game 23-20 Rutgers.

I have been taking rutgers all year...im going to take them again. Rugters has had a cupcake schedule and are starting to get a little soft on D. Their offense is pretty bad toi when the D isnt causing turnover. Cinncy more balanced team both sides of the ball. Should be rutgers toughest game..rutgers should be up for this game. Due to their snoozer schedule the past month. Rutgers are play at their best when they see you coming. Teams like army tjey just go yo sleep on. With that being said im on rutgers. 3 point game

Because the oddsmakers want your money and they know you're dumb enough to take rutgers because "it's a gift"

Where did anyone say it was a gift? I agreed it may be a trap but just wanted to hear why others thought the line was set where it is.

Waiting for the guy who always mentions the ATS record of unranked teams favored over ranked teams to show up.

I think it's Rutger's or no play, personally I think you are just trying to be sharp by outsmarting the books by taking UC, and trust me that will not end well in the long run.

Seriously though lines come from power rankings and Rutgers has got less respect than Cincy all year, and Cincy slightly healthier

It's set where it is because Cincy has played better than Rutgers this year, and they have a new QB who makes the team even better. However, Rutgers emphasizes defense first, and they're a bad favorite and a good dog, and I think they're the right play here.

Anyway this line in my mind is only a historically accurate one. RU rarely beats Cincy and hasn't beaten them at Nippert in over a decade. I still feel the line is off, RU's D is going to dominate, it all comes down to if their offense can produce.

unranked teams at home favored over ranked teams in the last 134 years are 672-11-25 ats. that should tell you all you need to know right there. books have been getting buried on these games for over a century. you take rutgers, you deserve what's coming to you.

Line -6 is correct (might even be off Cincy way)
RU had an easy schedule while running off that win streak from the start, that run got them ranked.
RU has a good defense, but is pretty beaten up now.

Cincy has a monster offense, they average 220+ yards a game on the ground.
Know this, they can pass too.

Sagarain has this game Cincy -8 on a neutral turf, factor in home field, Sagarin's final number is Cincy -11.5
    That's good enough for me.

Been using Sagarin's numbers for years, I trust him big time, there's a reason why he has a say in the BCS standings.

Im a huge RU homer. Odds makers taking advantage of the fact RU struggling the last two weeks againts weaker teams. Like the other poster said they get complacent playing weaker teams. These kids see the oppurtunity. RU clobbers Cincy 27 14. Just my take. And some reason offense breaks out on away games.

as a uc fan; i'll tell you why. the bearcats got bad call against louisville. It was to be expected so no sour grapes. (do want uc to go to bcs because they will get embarrassed unless the play an a.c.c team) The new qb looked good. Munchie has been killing the team. This is an easy 2td win for the bearcats.

This is incorrect. Sagarin's latest rankings have Cinci rating as 75.83, and Rutgers as 75.57, making Cinci around a 3 point favorite after accounting for home field.

Above poster is correct about it being only 3 with Sagarin.

Sagarin is at 55% on the year against the spread. Not saying its a bad play, just saying Sagarin being on that side doesnt always help. I do use it as a research factor as well though.

I don't know where you guys are getting you supposed Sagarin ratings but Sagarin has these teams DEAD EVEN. Factor in the 3.5 for home field for Cincy and Rutgers is catching 3 free points at 6.5.
