    I read they were pals since college, maybe not romantic back then but they seem to have known each other for a while.

    Maybe Hope Solo just wanted to stay in the public eye, she has nothing of note coming until 2015 in the sporting world, her book probably bombed and no one cares for sex in the olympic village stories until spring of 2016.
