I agree, yes it is the best but it is overrated, this year Oregon could smash any team of the sec, if they were there they may lose one but in that conference that seems enough to make it to the BCS

I love Oregon and I would rather watch west coast style football and offense any day over the SEC defensive battles but this statement is just ridiculous. Oregon lost twice last year to SEC teams. These defenses in the SEC are a whole different animal than what Oregon has faced so far

    2011
    LSU 40, Oregon 27

    2011
Auburn 22, Oregon 19 (BCS National Championship Game)

Winning BCS Championships means nothing for superiority. Just have to win 1 game with a lot of luck to get there. 06 Florida got in because UCLA beat USC in the final week. 07 LSU got in because WVU and Mizzou lost in the final week. 08 Florida had 1 loss, needed other teams to lose. Auburn was down 24-0 @Bama. 11 Bama needed OSU to lose. It's mostly a fluke to get there.

SEC is the best because of their dominance on the field vs other quality teams in bowl and OOC games.

SEC would show more superiority by knocking their contenders out routinely and showing unreal NFL like depth. Instead you have Vandy, UK, Tenn, OlePiss, Auburn, Arkansas that get rolled off the field.

The big 10, although not as strong this year is not a confrence full of cupcakes

Oregon palys- USC, Stanford and Oregon state which account for at least 3 quality opponents
Oregon plays an entire schedule of cupcakes get out of here with that non sense. EVERY SINGLE TIME Oregon plays a team with a decent defense they get beat. The entire pac 12 is full of cupcakes.

So they all scheduled their weak opponents for the same week...

If you think the SEC is overrated after watching college football for the past 10 years, you are not smart

    Questions?
How is LSU even ranked? They’veplayed 5 quality opponents and lost 2?
Why is Alabama ranked so high? Has 4 quality games on its schedule and lost 1 of those
Why is the SEC so coveted when only 7 of the 14 teams have winning records? Please don’t use “strength of schedule”BS because every SEC team has 3 built in cupcake teams on their schedule, which means you only have to win 4 out of 9 teams to finish with winning record
I'm at a loss for why the SEC can sget o much respect with so little to back it up

I've been saying this for years!....

Big 12 A&M is so great now cause they beat everyone's beloved Alabama...That is what happens, boys when you play a couple decent teams back to back.

All those top ten SEC teams are the same. One loss, One decent win and a bunch of cupcakes on the schedule...This is college football. We don't know, we never know cause they don't play good teams out of conference.

Auburn, Kentucky, ARKANSAS are some of the worst teams I have seen this year. And that is not to say anything of Tennessee's Defense.

SEC is still the best conference, just way overrated. Mainly Alabama.

It is too bad there most likely won't even be one matchup between the Pac-12 and SEC in this bowl season.

    If you lined up:

    Oregon vs Alabama
    USC vs Texas A&M
    Stanford vs Georgia
    Oregon State vs LSU
    UCLA vs Florida
    Arizona vs South Carolina

The SEC would be favored in every game, but I would bet the Pac-12 wins 2 of those games and would not at all be surprised if they won three.... that may sound crazy....

Put the top 6 SEC teams up against the top 6 teams from any other conference and make it worth something (so that the SEC teams take it seriously) and the SEC will dominate. The SEC is overrated by the media at times yes. But seriously do that. The SEC is by far the HARDEST league to stay undefeated in. This is coming from a guy who thinks Kansas State, Oregon and maybe even ND all deserve a shot at the ship more than any SEC team right now. But the SEC is still the best and hardest conference to compete in.

NO they are not. Have you ever watched A&M? Last year or this year. Completely different coaches, personell and A&M last year was really good. They won every first half by a huge margin. They just did not have the coaching to keep them fired up and they had horrible conservative offensive play calls. Trying to claim credit for the Big 12 because A&M is doing so well is getting old and is simply not true.

Could give a crap about the big 12. Just saying upsets happen when you have good offenses in the mix. Not when you have great defenses playing against really good defenses...and mediocre offenses. Chalk up the W before the game even starts unless there is a qb on the other side that can make things happen.

    cant blame them though.
gotta be a bitch watching SEC win title every yr.
we all remember how Oregon torched Auburn couple yrs ago and put how many on the scoreboard?

I love watching the ducks play but they're not putting up those #s every week playing an SEC schedule.

Thing is Sec teams play....other sec teams. Oregon kstate have that Boise state aura of being the elite team in their conference. Nd is elite in no conference. Alabama, lsu, Texas a&m, Georgia, Florida, south Carolina are all elite. Good luck running that gauntlet.

You have to bet everything you own on Alabama or Oregon right now in a title game with saban having 6 weeks to prepare who are you going to pick? Exactly

the thread is about overrated...fact. The belief is "x teams goes to the SEC they get killed". Not with 7 terrible teams. Teams could go in and post good records immediately if they get favorable schedules that dodge enough of the elite teams. Vandy at 6-4 says it all.

Too much weight is put into National titles that inflate perception, half of which were absurd flukes to get there.

SEC beating down out of conference teams come bowl season just about every year as a whole = not overrated

Also, Tennessee Auburn and Arkansas are usually not close to this bad (Tenn maybe)

ridiculous lol so define overrated. The dispute isn't about superiority. I say overrated off inflated perception that everyone looks up at them from below and nobody else could go in and contend. That's why Johnny Football and Sumlin shit all over the God King of all time in Bama. Should have beat LSU and Florida meaning they'd be looking at winning it in the school's first year in the SEC with a freshman QB and the coach's first year at the school

This year 7 of 14 are awful. Last year 6 of 12 were awful. Many top 25 teams could contend to win the SEC with a nice schedule and an upset or 2.

The only teams competing for an SEC title in the nation this season in other conferences are KState and Oregon.....You could not convince me on any other team

You could also easily argue that 7 SEC teams could easily compete for any other conference's championship
