They had a bad ass senior QB, Darron Thomas, who was literally pushed out because the Freshman Mariota was going to play regardless.

Mariota is ridiculous to watch play, if Oregon wasn't about to get pummled by the NCAA - I would say the guy would be having a shot at 3 national titles.

SEC plays slow, the offenses in that league play to the defenses strengths, I form pound the rock run run run.. Texas A&M is exposing what a legit spread team can do with a good QB. SEC is old man boring football who recruit boring terrible QBs like mettenberger

"Johnny, do we need to talk?" Smith asked, finally.
    "Can we?" Manziel replied.
They repaired to Smith's office where Manziel, then an Oregon commitment, discussed how he fell for the Aggies. His family could see him play without traveling thousands of miles. The next morning, Smith dialed up Ducks coach Chip Kelly and handed the receiver to Manziel, who delivered the news. By January, Manziel was in College Station."

Yes and Manziel would be on bench or playing different position if he went to Oregon. MM is the truth. Manziel is a nice story.

Both great players in their own right, but to be fair, Manziel's numbers are better than Mariota's -- even with MM's monster game tonight. And MM hasn't faced Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc.

    as stated
Herschel Walker was/is the most dominate frosh player in history.
Johnny Football is impressive but not even on the same level as the great ones before him.

: Herschel Walker, Georgia: Walker almost single handedly carried the Bulldogs to the National Championship as a freshman, running for 1616 yards and 15 touchdowns. He would finish a controversial 3rd place in the Heisman voting behind George Rogers and Hugh Green, both seniors. Walker further proved that the voting was wrong by running for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns in the national title game.

MM plays about 55% of snaps because Oregon usually buries teams early in game. I prefer MM but not going to say those who prefer Manziel are tt's aka retards.

Have to agree with Believeland. Kid is good but SEC speed has become more SEC stout in the last few years. They have not built their teams to defend against this type of hurry up and speed on offense.

I agree Mariota is a heck of a player, but Manziel is making defenders in the SEC look slow, big difference.

One thing I think Manziel needs to watch out for is the way he carries the ball. In a lot of those runs the ball is flailing around in his hand.

Is this a joke? Marcus Mariota the Oregon QB is just as good if not better then Johnny Football, the only thing is he gets over looked because of:
    1. In Pac 12 2. Deanthony Thomas 3. Kenjon Barner. I mean for gods sakes has anyone checked out his numbers? 71% passing, 28 tds, 5 ints (2coming in one game) 2164 yards passing then to rushing : 516 yards, with a 83 of his long ( YES 83! he burnt all the DBs!!) along with 3tds.

Also he has only played more then 2.5 qtrs in 2 games ( SC and Cal) and what happended bahahah
    against SC: 20/23, 304 yds 4td 0 INT! 255 passing rating!
    Cal: 27-34, 377 yds 6td 0 INT! 230 passing rating!
He got 1/3 of his TDS in 2 games because he did have to sit the second half! The kid JUST TURNED 19!

Lord have mercy on Kansas States defense LORD HAVE MERCY! DAT, COLT LYERLA, KENJON, MARIOTA! Will/Can the ducks be stopped? I say no but time will tell! GO DUCKS!
I'm very eager to hear what you guys have to say about that.....

Oh and imagine the stats of Johnny Football came to Oregon, he was recruited with Mariota but probably declined after Mariota commmited is my guess.

Not even close and I think Mariota is a great QB. Oregon has weapons that rival some NFL teams and by far the best offensive coach/system in the country. Forget the stats, this is a simple eye test if you watch football at all. Again, not taking anything away from Mariota but Johnny football is clearly the best QB in college football right now let alone the freshman class. Never seen a freshman QB make the decisions he has made this year. Always makes the right decision, he's fast and throws the ball on a rope.

Like I said Johnny is great, yes better then Mariota, but have you guys really been watching duck football? ( not being sarcastic jsut asking because we have had more then 50% night games) but zone read tests your decision making to the fullest I think. But then again MM hasn't played bama, and god damn you need toughness and composure to knock off a team like that.

I'm an SEC guy at heart but believe me I know that despite winning the last 6 BCS titles (because of superior talent) the SEC style offenses are light years behind the new innovative offenses like Oregons. I think Oregon's system is so far ahead of the avg system that it is silly.

College ball is going back to the dual threat single wing do everything athlete! It started with Vick at Va. Tech, then came Young at Texas.

Recently 5 dual threat QB's with Heisman credentials came through the ranks. Tebow, RGIII, Cam Newton, Colin Klein & Manziel. From what I've seen Griffin has the best arm but Manziel has the 2nd best arm &
is by far the shiftiest & most elusive ball carrier of all of them. The others just use their speed or power in the
run game. Therefore of all the new breed QB's I think Manziel is the most talented.

Roger Staubach during the strictly T-formation error was by far the greatest dual threat QB I ever saw, Manziel mimics his talent. The best games I ever saw a QB play were Staubach in his teams only regular season loss 28-27 in 63 vs SMU: Vince Young vs. USC in the BCS Championship game: RGIII vs TCU & vs Texas last year & Manziel vs.
    Alabama last week.

and your tissue soft defense would get absolutely shredded by a&m and ksu. your entire secondary was already bad and now just lost another guy last week. you're also vulnerable inside against a power running game. klein will gash you on those keepers, he's a truck. you have good speed on defense, but that's about it. no big hitters either. worry about your own defense before thinking about ksu's.

not really, florida did this in the days of urban meyer and tim tebow. it was like a power spread, best of both worlds type of game. spread teams must be really, really super legit to win in the sec.

remember oregon last year against lsu? that was an assraping right there. auburn beat them in the championship game as well, and that oregon team was insane. oklahoma with sam bradford wasn't able to beat the gators either with a more "legit" spread offense than the gators were using.

this is not new to the sec.

im not questioning that mariota has looked amazing but this years pac12 looks like the big 12 of the past few years with conference games going into the 70's and up on a regular basis....usc's scored 50 twice in conf games and in the 30's two other times....same goes for arizona, except add one 40 pt game...ucla in the 40's three times and one game over 60....and again these were all in conference games

pac12 might have some great offense but it isnt exactly a conference for hard nosed defense
