Rule 8 Article 3 Item 5 simultaneous catch

If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain, it the ball belongs to the passers.

It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control.

Did the GB receiver gain control first?

That's the problem. Not enough evidence to prove it was not simultaneous.

It is clear as day that Jennings had possession first. Still trying to decide if I should call 5Dimes and get my gb wager voided.

    Wasn't a simultaneous catch - rule doesn't apply.

Was a simultaneous catch about 2 minutes after The interception. Bullshit call.

Even if it was a simultaneous catch, the refs missed the offensive PI call. LOL

What's funny is the ref who could clearly see Jennings had ball called it a td, the ref in the back who couldn't see it well called touchback lol.

Word to the wise I guess we have all learned to bet on the home squads mostly the ones on primetime tv anyway. These baby zebras are obviously calling for the home crowd we have seen it time and time again last several games. Last week Denver game they fumble and come out with the ball yet the zebras give the ball to Atl before they can possibly establish who had it. That and all the phantom pass interference calls that always seem to favor the home side which includes tonights obvious no call on last play.

Typically, in a questionable situation like this they would rule a TD knowing that the play is automatically under review.

when under review, the official must have concluded that the catch was simultaneous. Simultaneous possession.

They pointed out something interesting on NFL total access

You CANNOT review if a ball was caught simultaneously or not. That call is decided on the field.

I am just curious as to why they decided it was a TD. The refs had conflicting calls. Why did they decide TD?

It wasn't a simultaneous catch. Are you blind?

Green Bay intercepted it and then Golden Tate put his hands on the ball from "behind" the defender. The Green Bay defender had the ball in his stomach. Golden Tate had the GB defender's ass in his stomach. Now you tell me who really caught the ball?

Get a clue. Putting your hands on the ball after the other team catches it isn't simultaneous possession. It was sa horrible call and they also missed an offensive pass interference on that play.

Every scoring play is reviewable. Part of the review process would involve analyzing the possibility of simultaneous possession.

    N.O.P.E.

Replay Official Howard Slavin stopped the game for an instant replay review. The aspects of the play that were reviewable included if the ball hit the ground and who had possession of the ball. In the end zone, a ruling of a simultaneous catch is reviewable. That is not the case in the field of play, only in the end zone.
