All Time NFL QB Ratings Listings

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_car...rating_leaders

I just posted this because of discussions on other threads about rating QBs based on passing ratings.

The list is a bit interesting, and heavily weighted in favor of QBS of the last 10 years or so.

    Some interesting notes:

No. 1 all time -- Aaron Rodgers. No big surprise

No.2 all time -- Tony Romo. Never would have guessed that considering what a LOSER he is.

Tied for No. 9 with Joe Montana -- Matt Schaub. Matt who? Does he clean the gutters at Texan's stadium or something like that?

No. 18 -- Carson Palmer --- Hasn't this guy demonstrated what a mediocre talent he is? Can't believe he still plays.

No. 42 -- Ken Anderson. One of the best field generals ever and comes limping in at No. 42?

No. 71 -- Johnny Unitas. Need I say more?

No. 187 -- Joe Namath. Ok, about where this overrated show horse deserves to be.

No. 216 Joe Kapp and No. 234 Bobby Douglass. No comment on their passing abilities, but you wouldn't want to mess with either of these two QBs in a dark alley. They would spit at anyone suggesting "keep the QBs safe rules" when they were playing.

Many more things I could say, but you can form your own opinion.

Any list that has a Packer at number 1, is a flawed list.

The obvious lesson to take from this is that QB rating is not a certain predictor of success (in a W/L sense). Some NFL legends are way down the list. And Tony Romo (who actually is a very good QB) and Phillip Rivers are ranked very high, despite never winning Super Bowls like QBs ranked near them (like Peyton, Tom Brady, Steve Young, etc.)

One QB from the old era (1940's-1950's) who is ranked very high is Otto Graham (#16). I don't think any of us on the board realize just how dominant he was with the Browns, winning championship after championship and setting passing records that would stand for years.

My father used to recollect the old classic games between the Lions and Browns, where Graham would put up incredible numbers in those championship games.

Once Romo and Rivers finish their careers they will be below Young, Brady, etc.

Honestly, Mr. Brock, I've never seen you post any kind of thought you might have, other than some bizarre off the cuff prediction, whether it's your own or something you've seen referenced elsewhere. You call things stupid, but what is stupid according to you?

How stupid is this? LSU -20. Go for it gambler. LSU doesn't cover? I don't post here again for 6 months.

Seems very odd that all the current QB's are at top of list.

I think I mentioned it in the first paragragh.

It would take another thread to try and explain it to you if you don't already know why.

The reason for so many QBs from the last 10 years or so ranking the highest is the NFL has completely changed the rules to cater to the modern QB/passing game, making Qb ratings considerably unjust to great QBs of the past..............

Exciting entertainment is the new NFL and the passing game is the trump...............

Romo #2 is just insane. That is one of those goofy stats that just doesn't add up.

The NFL passer rating is a statistic developed to evaluate a QBs play INDEPENDENT of their team's success, or lack thereof, in the win column.

Or for you Romo haters, how many field goal snaps they drop, lol.

How can a all-time QB thread be made without mentioning him?

This is correct. The illegal contact and pass interference changes have drastically changed the game in the favor of modern quarterback..
