well versed in gambling, you idiot. Well versed means being able to speak a bunch of foreign languages, well versed means having a college education in a field that will bring her a good salary and respect from the community, well versed means an understanding of correct PARENTING. It is stupid and close to child abuse.

Gambling is exciting, gambling is fun but we all know the chance of winning is very low. Why teach a skill to a kid that you know will almost always result in a losing way. Why teach your flesh and blood a game that might ruin their life. It is just stupid, and he is stupid.

and on our trip to cinci/philly/ny we had 2 days in atlantic city. best part of the trip for me and the kids tolerated it.

the other day my daughter said "my favorite part of vacation was that breakfast on the beach" which i explained to them the casino gave us for 2 days because i played a little in the casino at trump plaza.

also explained to them the smart thing to do is play just enough to get the $100 in free food and hopefully only lose $50 or so in the process

However, I do give credence to your point. Time and place is an important factor. 6 years old might be young. God knows I wouldn't be teaching my kids about a lot of things at that age - gambling most likely included.

True story: My family lived in Vegas when I was 2. I didn't know till much later that we moved because my dad was a compulsive gambler, the stoopid kind, that would gamble away his paycheck at slots.
He never gambled in front of me, and besides the occasional dime or so lost on family vacations, never knew he had a problem.

But I did know he was an alcoholic and compulsive spender, and general all-around idiot. It was the center of many a fight in my childhood home.

So fast forward 30 years, I picked up on his gambling habit (but not from him). But I'm not an alcoholic or compulsive spender. And I'm decent at gambling, never lose more than a few pennies here and there, and I never play slots.

Point of story: you can point your kids in the direction you want to go... but at the end of the day, their personalities, genetics, and life situations will factor in too.
Actually, I don't have a point. so I'll shut up now.
