Do replacement Refs affect week 1 lines?

    Anybody have insight?

Any preseason penalty trends that might affect Over/Unders in week 1?

    Good question

I think penalties will be way down, should lead to higher scoring

I think offensive linemen are gonna hold a lot more cuz they think they can get away with it

not sure if it will effect spreads or totals

but it will effect the overall flow of games

its pretty ridiculous that the NFL can't pay for the best there is and protect the owners' and their huge investments

So you think less people will watch because of replacement refs?

They don't need to be replacements for that to happen.

I just hope they know that there is only one ball allowed in play, where to spot the ball, and what a touchback is by now.

If there were distinct trends of too many or too few calls by the replacement refs, maybe. If not, not really.

Never has the NFL been more set up for a fixing scandal then with these scab Refs. They make peanuts, have no loyalty to the NFL, and know they'll be discarded back to their Division 3 or Arena League Obscurity, as soon as the real guys come back. Goodell rails about the integrity of the game, in his arguments against legalizing NFL Betting in the US, but he's allowing that integrity to be potentially compromised by screwing with the real refs.

I hope it happens! Hopefully Billy Walters can get on the phone. Really, if BW offered a couple of these scab refs $100,000 each up front would they not take it? BW could get a million down on this game I would imagine. Easy money....

    This could effect gamblers.

Gamblers should not complain about bad officiating after losing money, everyone has been warned.

Anytime ownership stands up to.a union its better for.consumers. NFL reffing is not a particularly difficult skill. One that requires experience to hone, like any skill, sure. Hell replace them with computers.

a lot of people are quick to ignore this, it might not make a huge difference but every little bit of info counts as a handicapper (especially when most are ignoring it)

way less. they have admitted themselves the speed of the game is really tough for them to get adjusted to. its just like a d3 player going to the nfl. their eye is NOT trained to this speed and 4 pre season games aren't going to do it either.

this is why you have seen a ton of blatant holding penalties not called pre season and that will be trend that carries over into the regular season.

they have done a good job with PI though.

Agreee MM. If you saw that call (embarrassing debacle) in the Pats game they will be less prone to want to put themselves in the national spotlight. Lot more focus on a mistaken call than a non call.

They directly affected the outcome of many games

I think taking all underdogs is a good plan right now.

Replacement refs bailing out teams with bogus calls all day. Any garbage team has a chance to win now.
