Who would get More first ballot HOF votes Jeter or Ichiro?

I'd guess most would say Jeter...

but can anyone make a case for Ichiro getting a higher % if they hypothetically retired at the same time?

    ichiro better player then jeter

    jeter more popular

if ichiro played in MLB from beginning of career he would of ended up all time hit king

    4500+ hits

Jeter easily top five shortstop all time, possibly top three. Ichiro probably outside top 10 rightfielders

Ichiro may not even make HofF. Jeter first ballot.

I remember Ichiro's 2004 season like it was yesterday. Absolutely dominant.

Guy doesn't speak english well but his bat is fluent in success.

    Lock for HOF 1st ballot.

Both guys are future HOF'ers, of course.

Realistically, though, I really can't make a case for Ichiro getting more FIRST BALLOT votes than Jeter.
On the first ballot, I'd have to take it for granted that they both will get in, although I guess if by some bizarre chance one of them didn't get in on the first ballot, it would be Ichiro.

Jeter will certainly get more votes. The guy has 5 rings and played in New York. Ichiro played in Seattle, no rings . I think that's enough to tip the scales in and of itself. (Unless Ichiro wins with NYY this year, but then that will just be a 6th ring for Jeter also.) Plus Jeter will end up with more hits in American baseball, regardless of whatever Ichiro's final total is.

Plus, like others have mentioned, getting in the HOF at SS is totally different than getting in as a RF. The bar is set much differently at SS than RF.

Ichiro is a bit overrated to be honest. If OPS is THE stat... then Ichiro has never been better than good. And right now he is deplorable.

His chances are 100%. Not only being Rookie of the Year, MVP all the awards etc but being the first Japanese position player to ever start in MLB and dominate He has had a big impact on the game. After his World Series ring this year with NY maybe people will have a clue

.360 on base mostly infield singles, if Ichiro get in over Andruw Jones it is a travesty.

This is no contest it's Jeter easily. Aside from all the stats and World Series rings he is a Yankee bottom line. That and he has been a great ambassador for the game through the roughest stretch in MLB history. Ichiro = great player ... however the language barrier and playing in Seattle makes him less marketable and less "media friendly". And we all know who casts the votes!

    Derek Jeter 3500+ hits
    5 rings
top 5 MVP like 4-5 years

Its hard to say if ichiro has a prime here he would have 4500 hits ... He could have been great till he was 27 and sucked like hes doing now at 34 -40 ... You can never tell but right now it's hands down Jeter

Are you kidding me? Derek Jeter is and was the far superior player. Ichiro is a pure single slaphappy hitter with speed.

I don't get how many rings they have matters. It's a team sport and Ichiro was toiling in SEA while Jeter was on powerhouse NYY lineups. Same could be said for MVP numbers as common sense says Jeter was in a better situation to get better overall numbers.

Look at the individual plays/stats, not team induced nonsense.

Superior hitter and defense player, pretty hard to argue his credentials to be a HOF.

And anybody that.says Ichiro may not even make HOF is delusional. It's ignorant to think this guy doesn't belong in the HOF. Everybody is an entitled to an opinion regardless of how $hitty it is. Look at his career numbers. There's really no question.
