    Matt Holliday could've been Bane.....

Dude is terrifying to look at. Built like a gorilla. Slap the mask on him with that bald head.

Bane would crush Holliday. Holliday is a gym rat, but Tom Hardy would beat his azz!! LOL

Bane was probably the worst casting job ever. The character is supposed to be massive not just in build, but in height. Bane is supposed to tower over Batman at like 6'8". Nolan ruined the mystery and allure of the villain He cast Hardy because they're buddies. Shame, but such is Hollywood.

and if they had cast some 6'8 actor would his acting skills be anywhere close to Hardy's??

All your preconcieved expectations of what Bane was supposed to be have given you a comic fantasy that has no place in the real world movies of Nolan's Trilogy.

Nolan is such a great director, the guy makes thrilling blockbuster flicks. Don't expect perfection because you'll never get it. He's 10x better than any other director out there.

I have no complaints over the casting. Don't see why nobody digs Chris Nolan's Bane...

The real world has no jurisdiction in a summer blockbuster. These movies are made to be unrealistic. When's the last time there was a "real world" summer blockbuster. Do you see criminals like The Joker from TDK, running around? These villains are meant to be larger than life.

When casting a character that wears a mask the entire movie, acting goes out the window. 99% of people couldn't tell in any way shape or form it was Hardy unless they read the bill beforehand. His "acting" wasn't anything even remotely spectacular. You get a 6'8" imposing figure, slap a mask on, and ADR all his dialogue (which they do anyway), it becomes 100 times more intimidating and his acting looks exactly the same since it's purely movement with zero facial expression.

It's not just about the comic book, I have been a student of film my whole life and graduated from film school. The casting of the antag is the beginning of Nolan's problems, there's enough plot holes in this one to sink a fleet. Dark Knight was a much better movie and Batman Begins trumps them all for exposition and developed story.
