    Look around mayan
im certainly not the only person in the world that would be happier single

I dont hate mrs milwaukee, but over time the things i loved aren't there, and the things that were mildly annoying became huge irritants. We still have a lot of fun together, but i think my life would be a lot more pleasurable if i lived alone

Milwaukee, I have never met a single-older man being happy by himself...

You would be 100x more miserable without the old Mrs around..

    Really mayan?
my dad is the happiest person i know. And every other single man i know that doesnt have health problems is happier than every married man i know. Keep in mind im in milwaukee though where the women over 30 are grouchy and not much to look at...

Only reason for an older guy to want a woman around is for a "nurse or a purse"

    too many variables

Mayan, give your wife 15 more years. the things you say sound nice, but you sound like a novato

unfortunately, idealism is woven into culture but it is not a reflection of biology. when these two collide they meet at the breaking point called 'reality'

    lol. nice post

my problem is not winning. I win all the time. I deposit at different books. run it up 3 or 4 times the original deposit....

then just go absolutely ape shit and lose MY FUKKING MIND!!!

I mean, it's like clockwork. very rarely do I lose the initial deposit outright.... I methodically run it up, the bets get bigger and bigger.... and all of a sudden I'm hammering shit and it's a 747 going in a 500 mph nose-dive straight into a concrete street

There are times I miss being married, but just for the things married people and families do and plan together.

But, as sad and cynical as it sounds, I think Mike is right. Once you get over the idea that you are supposed to be the man of the house that looks after everyone, and learn to feel comfortable just looking after yourself (which is a tough change for lots of guys)... being single in your 40s is kinda nice. It's amazing feeling free to choose to do or not do whatever the hell I want without anyone else to consider, after a whole adult life being taught not to think that way!

Optional, did you ever consider it from the point of view of bee colonies? there are the worker slaves who provide for the colony. ironic how you, as the man, convert into a worker slave, no?

the woman is looking for a financier.... someone who will basically finance her poosy and work for the hive, pay into it. you can assign an emotional value to it and say that that's a crude viewpoint... but it's a biological reality.

Yeah, I spent the first 3/4 of my life training to be, and acting the part of that worker bee for sure.

At least keeping busy like that stops you wondering about the sense of it whilst its happening though.

so true. the ability to think is a dangerous thing. in some ways I wish was a neophyte liberal like MLD.... w/o a thought in my mind. it would make the world a much less darker place

o/c, that's the beauty of youth.... so one is not exposed to such realities. and it is also one of the reasons why children are so happy.

o/c, lots of thought is not good... b/c u then get back to that ultimate quote..... "none of us are making it out of this alive", lol

where can I sign up to be a stupid liberal? is there any place I can go to wash away the capacity to think and reason?

worst of all 95% of them hit the wall at 35 and look extremely ugly and fat

better to marry a european, mexican or hell even an asian

    So true

Part of the reason I am hesitant to get married is how do I know the girl I would marry isn't just marrying me to divorce me in 5-10 years and take half of what I got?

Its all about money these days, they watch TV shows and reality shows and movies and see these women living lives of luxury and indulgence and will not settle for anything less

I went to TCU, full of a bunch of rich bitches with daddy's money and CC who wouldn't even so look at you if your dad didn't make 500k a year. I was turned down by girls because I didn't drive a car that was worth 6 figures. I swear half the girls who go there are there to take really easy classes, find a rich trust fund husband, get married, drop out of college then divorce him and take half of what he has. We called that the "Mrs. Degree"

Agree, get married when young n dumb, it's a lot more enjoyable that way.

The focus and purpose you gain from being married might mean you end up with more than double what you would have anyway... but after 10 years you really will have been in a sucky relationship if you still think of everything you own as yours. ;-)

get with a girl who hates tv and commercialism in general. If your girl watches the Kardashians and shows of the same ilk you may be in for rough times

this thread kind of went off on a tangent to the marriage part instead of the gambling part

it is WAY -EV to be married to someone and providing for 3 other people that provide no money. the kids at least provide happiness, and in the grand scheme of things none of us would be here if not for what i consider to be a mistake to get married and have kids.

and what the younger guys have posted, i would hate to be looking for a mate at this point when almost every good looking teenage/20-something girl is obsessed with themself and always looking at their phone. they treat you like you're wasting their precious time just talking to them, precious time that could be doing what exactly? looking at the phone some more or shopping?

Disagree......If you CAN put emotions aside, you might find better edges on your teams......For example, I know the ins and ous of the Jets, I follow them year round and read jets news and message boards throughout the season

I usually stay clear but every now and then I will pound them when I think that they are undervalued and it usually works out

In general though, Your post is spot on for most fans who would bet their team every single week

yeah for the most part this might be right, but especially in baseball when you watch a team 162 games you can really gain some perspective on how they will play in certain situations. made a huge play on the brewers with fiers vs the astros and they won by 9 runs.

i always think going with what you know is the best policy, as long as you can go the other way and don't just autobet your home team.

I see both of your points and they do make complete sense. I think for the veteran sports bettor who is able to block out all emotions with their picks and look at games with complete objectivity then knowing a team inside out is a great asset.

How many of us can honestly say we're in a rut, our fav team is playing so we make an impulse bet on them? We've all done it at one time or another and had bad results more often than good results. For someone new to sports betting you'll lose less if you stay away from your favourite team.

few more things i've thought of that normal happen to me..

    1) dont let one bad beat turn into 2 or 3 or so on..

example yankees up 3-0 top 9, 2 outs... red sox score 4 in top of 9th...

game ends 10:00 clock , you immediately chase the highest juice 10 pm mlb game,, wake up next morning , naturally it lost, then you chase with something mid day that stupid..... and your 1000 dollar roll is down to some toilet tissue...

    2) this is my biggest problem,,, DO NOT CHECK SBR before you lock in your bets.. if you research a play and are confident in it , PLAY IT, dont doubt yourself and end up playing something else...
    this is my biggest problem,
prime example tonight is why i thought of it,

did all my research on cardinals/brewers

had sound reasoning that i posted on why i should take the cardinals and the under 8.5..

instead i kept reading around here and was like o more people are on arizona, and im not great with baseball, so i'll just take arizona,, 3 hours later,

cardinals win 3-0... both cash easy..

    and im losing..
