WOW...I dont know much about soccer, but this has to be a massive massive blow to England's pride, both on the pitch and in general.

Their national team has been in decline for years.

They made it to the Quarters but they beat Sweden, Ukraine and Belgium each by only 1 goal. Not exactly the best teams in Europe.

They did well against Italy losing on penalty points.

Wouldnt Sweden, Ukraine and Belgium still be worlds ahead of Senegal though? And playing in front of the home town crowd.

Seems a bit embarassing to me.

Home crowd was non existing, as much atmosphere as to a baseball game i 'merica.

Besides that the teams are not the same as at Euro2012, only 3 players over 23 are allowed.

Olympic soccer is completely irrelevant because you can only bring 3 players older than 23.

This means the teams have very little cohesion and must develop the ability to play together on the fly.

GB could lose every game and not many in England would give two shits as the start of the EPL is 3 weeks away.

The only team who has taken this competition seriously is Brazil. Olympic gold is the only prize Brazil have never captured. When Menzes started building this team it was with an eye for this tournament. This team has been together for almost 18 months while others played 3 friendlies to warm up for London.

Cameroon won olympic gold in 2000.

Nigeria won gold in 96, silver in 2008.

    Ghana won gold in 82.
