Dodgers take on the Cardinals today in the first of a 4 game series at Busch Stadium, St Louis, with starting pitchers likely to be Kelly for the Cards and Billingsley for LA. It’s fair to say that both these teams have struggled since returning from the All star game but the Dodgers will surely find strength through the fact they have beaten the reigning World Series champs seven times in a row. The Cards face up against a team that has just lost two games out of three against both Philadelphia and San Diego but seem to have equalized their poor run of form slightly with a 3 game victory against the Mets in New York this past weekend. Before finding their feet recently, the Dodgers had lost 19 from 25 games but LA catcher Matt Treanor suggests that "I think we're getting back into that type of, 'We can do this' mood".
On the other hand St Louis have hardly had a stellar performance of late, they have lost five games out of six since the all star game return but similar to the Dodgers, managed a three game sweep over the weekend, defeating Chicago away. 3 Cards players saw homers, John Jay, Matt Holiday and Carlos Beltran with Lance Lynn getting four hits in six innings for the St Louis outfit. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny was left to say "That was probably one of the more frustrating things with the trip we just had. Hopefully we can ride this out for a while"
Resident SBR Handicapper Willie Bee has noted that this is going to be a tight game and the Cards might take this on home advantage, he advises to take the moneyline on St Louis. Do you think Willie is on the money or is this a fader? The SBR Sportsbook currently has the Dodgers at +119 with the Cardinals on the under at -139…..BET NOW!
