British Open hole in one prop bet

Hole in one -110..............No hole in one -120.

The - 120 Seems like a good bet. Thoughts?

Saw it yesterday before the tournament at -110 and -110.

Right now would seem like a solid play at no hole in one at -120 imo

I don't follow golf too much but I thought before reading this the No would have been -350 or worse. I'd take the -120 no questions asked

I took it. If it happens it happens...

But as close to an official source as exists on this topic is Golf Digest. That publication has provided "acer odds" since the 1950s, and in the year 2000 hired Francis Scheid, Ph.D., the retired chairman of the math department at Boston University, to calculate the odds using the latest and best information available at that time.

The odds Scheid came up with were lower than any others cited above: 5,000 to 1 for a "low-handicapper," 12,000 to 1 for an "average player." If you are a low-handicapper and play 1,000 rounds in your life, according to Scheid, you have a 20-percent chance of recording an ace. If you play 5,000 rounds, your odds are 1:1.

The Golf Digest study provided many great nuggets of information, even breaking the odds down by quality of play:

Some other highlights from Scheid's calculations:

Source: Primary source is Golf Digest; more info on acer odds and holes-in-one can be found in the Sept. 2005 issue

Tour player making an ace: 3,000 to 1

    Low-handicapper making an ace: 5,000 to 1

Average player making an ace: 12,000 to 1

Took this bet before the tourney at evens. You should win in the long run. Heard Snedeker got a hole in one in practice round Hopefully, that's the one out of 3 000.

So youre saying theres a hole in one every round, on THIS course. I doubt it. May not even get one the entire 4 rounds.

well if it was -110 and -110 before round 1 and just moves to -120 after round 1 I'm almost positive there is some value. The odds of 1 being hit on the final 2 days drop immensely and it looks like the no-HIO got through today

i was speaking in general of hole in 1s are not that rare in any pga tourney

its not something that rarely happens during a 4 rd tourney is what i was saying, thats exactly why it was -110/-110 to start
