I've always suspected it to a degree, it was pointed out by another poster:

There's some kind of a creative genius behind this site who's an expert gambler. Now, only one of the "power posters" in this site's history has proven to be an expert gambler with real hard proof and that's "Nicky Santoro". Who is Nicky Santoro? From wikipedia:

"Anthony "The Ant" Spilotro (May 19, 1938 – June 14, 1986) was an Italian-American mobster and enforcer for the Chicago Outfit in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1970s and 1980s. Is "Nicky Santoro" or whoever is in charge of this site in charge of leading people to losing picks so the online books get a higher "skim"? Of course that's one goal of this site! Look at the top of this site, the fundamental situation would work exactly like the newspaper/television industry. The advertisers determine and control the content by simple virtue of the fact that if they don't approve of the content they remove their advertising. That mechanism would apply to this site as well.

Why is it so important to have an expert gambler running this thing? Only an expert who knows how to pick winning and losing plays daily can do the job. Only "Nicky Santoro" has actually proven on this site that he can do this daily over a large sample size.

If the master mind wanted to post on this site he would want to make himself seem unassuming and non-threatening by creating a persona everyone could feel comfortable with. Everyone feels comfortable with and superior to Cosmo Kramer.



Obviously the master mind of this site is male but if you take "Borg Queen" strictly as a metaphor that represents the whole of the collective (and not a female, that's irrelevant) then I'd say that this scene from Star Trek is pretty close to how I'd see the master mind of this site explaining the operation to the average SBR poster:
