PUMPED BABY! Don't think the Preds can afford to keep him but supposedly Poile is meeting with the owners tomorrow to see if there is a way for them to get that money.

Some pretty interesting facts here: (Found all on twitter)
If the Predators match offer, they will pay Shea Weber more over next 12 months - $27 mil - than they make off ticket sales— $24 mil.

Flyers made over 70 mil in ticket sales including Winter Classic and playoffs last year

The Nashville Predators lost $7 million last year and haven't been profitable since 2008

Spending $26M in one calendar yr, NSH would be forking over 16% of entire franchise net worth ($163M in '11 accd to Forbes) to match offer

OUR Flyers need a Real CAPTAIN..
That's why they will get Weber, and if they do...ticket sales will be 80 million next year at least..
    G-U-A-R-A-N-T-E-E-D!!!
Philly loves their FLYERS. The City have been begging management to get a goalie and a CAPTAIN.
I'm from Philly and I hear about it on the streets every single day...
Management messed up the goalie part, but they will make it up to the city, when they get the best CAPTAIN in NHL..
    LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it sticks it is time to get pumped. We finally could have the replacement for the gaping wound that has been the loss of Pronger. RIP Chris Pronger.

Giroux has proven he can carry, we still have Danny and Harty I would like it if they kept Voracek. What I keep thinking is can we possibly land this guy AND keep Read, Coutier and all of the other up and coming young talent? Because as a concept that feels pretty genius to me.

Flyers owners know we might be screwed with Brizzy but they don't have a choice but to move forward and now with the oversized brick that is Michael Leighton as our backup Mr. "The Universe is sooo big" doesn't have to be looking over his head and worried about being replaced in a huge event such as the Winter Classic last year by someone like a Bobsvrosky (RIP Bobsy, gl in Columbus, where goalies go to die gl w that glove pal).

Answer? Keep it on their end of the ice. It BLASTED Pit in the playoffs and versus NJ we got outhearted and out coached just like everyone else in the East.

The problem? Still the Rangers and Boston sure Thomas is gone, he was actualy a weakness to them last year. NJ couldn't lose Parise and expect to contend for the East again but wow what a goalie tandem in Pit now and sill all the talent in the world.

    We need to get him.

It's a good move for both teams if weber ends up in philly. Obviously weber will make the flyers better. Getting 4 1st rounders would be huge for Nashville. They will be in rebuild mode after losing Suter and Radulov so they have no reason to match the offer for Weber. Those 4 extra picks would definitely help for rebuild mode.

The only thing I find confusing is why Philly would spend so much on a guy when they are gonna have trouble re-signing giroux and couturier next year

They really need to put an end to these rigged front-loaded contracts but if any d-man is worth that type of money it's Weber. He's the top all around d-man in the league for sure. He does it all. Bomb from the point on the PP, tons of hits, grit, leadership. He's the total package.

Preds matched the offer! Now you have a defenseman signed for 14-years, $110 million who publicly said he didn't want to play for you.

What do all the Philly puck heads think about this now who had already crowned themselves the Stanley Cup champs for next season

stupid move by the preds. They need to rebuild now that radulov and suter are gone. 4 extra 1st round picks sure wouldve helped.
