" Nine years ago, Nick Newlife made what some may have thought was a sucker bet.

On Sunday, it paid off. Sadly, Newlife died in 2009 but he willed any winnings from his bet to Oxfam International, a charity in his hometown of Oxford, England that fights global poverty.

The bet?

In 2003, Newlife wagered 1,520 pounds (the equivalent to $2,353 USD today) at 66-1 odds that Roger Federer would win at least 7 Wimbeldon titles in his career.

On Sunday, Federer did just that and Oxford International became nearly $160,000 richer.

It wasn't the first time Oxfam has profited from one of Newlife's bets. In 2009 the organization claimed close to $26,000 after Federer won his 14th grand slam title at the french open. "
