once the pic is up and out there, it is out there for good

trying to get the pic to disappear would be utterly futile

the correct strategy would be to act like you don't care on the grounds that the pic is photoshopped and not really you, and then use the fact that you are acting like you don't care as evidence that the pic must be photoshopped and not really you

Lots of tourists playing cash games 1/2 and 2/5 nl at casino is equilavent to 10/25 cent online. Anyone saying playing wsop events to make money or profit is better than playing cash is insane. Must run like god to win a wsop event.

Not saying you can't make money in the long run playing but it's so swingy because of the massive fields. A lot of the good players got their start with their poker careers from shipping a big tourney.

Of course if you bink a tourney it helps but most of these guys are cash broke and staked because they degen their money in the pits. bankroll management, discipline and patience the three fukkin things you need.

Roxy does not bet that much on wnba games
most books have small limits also
its not that hard to be in green when you bet all different amounts and martingale at times with play money

Have you ever played in the main event?

That might have been true 6-7 years ago. Not anymore. There are probably 6-7 pros at every table.

The difference with cash games is that you can pick your tables. You don't get that luxury in the WSOP.

And there are a lot of cash games to choose from when the WSOP is running.

and let me point out a simple and little known fact

over 1,000,000 sessions, no matter how good of a table you find, with a huge amount of time and effort invested, you will almost certainly be behind playing poker. the rake is almost always more than your advantage in the long run. of course, in the short run you might find some no limit tables with drunk morons throwing $1000 away but i have probably lost almost as much as i've won in those games.

back in stu ungar's day when only 5% of the players understood math and situations you could've made a living. but now even quite a few of the major pros go broke because almost all of the players are really good vs a generation ago. and almost nobody can make a living unless they've pimped themselves out with endorsement deals, books, etc.

why do you think esfandiari and other top pros sold off 90% of their entry into the $1,000,000 game? hellmuth has more money than god and considers himself the best tournament player in the world, and still he didn't want to have any of his own money on the line.

Well, I'll argue it until I die because it's true. Theoretical hold = house edge. House hold != house edge.

When you tell players there is an edge in a game, it does not mean "house edge" nor theoretical hold.

Your net worth would need to be close to $100 million to play in that tourney. That's why no pros are buying themselves in. It goes back to what Peter was saying about EG. There are plenty of pros that do just fine for themselves.

Poker has become more difficult, but it is still possible to make a living playing. Rake is pretty insignficant in games higher than $2/$5 NL.

Lower limit players can take advantage of casino/online rakeback promotions as well. They didn't have those when I started playing.

Im not certain why or how I got drawn into this conversation but I have to comment. I play poker for a living 300 days a year I will gladly buy anyone a beer when they are in LV and shoot the hey about anything pretty much I'm a down to earth guy. I have to say you have made a few false statements and I for some reason have felt compelled to correct as best as possible.

First off many players including myself until this year have always bought in for themselves even if not tourney players because the EV of the ME is so high. Many of us at the Bellagio who played in the 20-40 & 30-60 limit whether it be 08 or hold me played a ton of ssatellites last year and pooled our money together at times to do so.. There's a huge difference between nLHE deep big field tourneys and NL cash obv and after discussing it there was no way anyone who's an advantage player doesn't understand 4000 people of dead money in any poker tournament. Satellites are very EV especially closer to the ME on weekends.

Second thing you stated that got me to Post was the rake comment above. First off there are very few big bet pros who can sustain a 5/100 bb win rate at 2/5 NL that doesn't feel the pressure to move up ASAP due to the rake and the variance of the lower limits this goes for all forms. Also many times when you move up you no longer pay rake! You pay time! There's a huge difference! It's the difference of paying -105 & -110 over the course of all of your wagers for the rest of your life. I believe I understand what you were trying to say.
TBC The main event at the WSOP is the best +EV spot you'll find in any form of gambling regardless of how you get in.
Second rakes significant to every single poker player who depends on any income from the game no matter how small or large. You should never stop tracking rake and what you're paying if you don't continue to know and see what it's doing to your personal bottom line you'll never realize the game you're playing isn't capable of being beat any longer.

I wasn't talking about buying into the main event by yourself. I was talking about buying into the Big One by yourself. No poker player can afford to drop $1 million of their own money on a single buyin. Nobody.

The main event can have +EV. Most of the +EV that you're talking about is related to satellites rather than the tournament itself though. The field is huge and gets competitively tougher every year. I played my first main event in 2005 and I wish they were all like it.

I think you're agreeing with me about rake. I never said that it shouldn't be tracked or regarded. My point was that it isn't as large of a factor at higher limits.
