2-3-2 format is whore shit and we are witnessing why.

2-2-1-1-1 is much better for the better record team. 2-3-2 gives the less superior regular season team the advantage. Prove me wrong.

    Wrong

Stats show that in both NBA and MLB that the winner of game 6 ALWAYS wins game 7 in this format.

If you cant win ONE game in the 3-4-5 games of the series you dont deserve a title

well only 3 times in history has the home team swept those games so over time has not been the case

100% agree, this game 5 should be in okc. Still no legitimate excuse for thunders god awful play but no team in basketball especially, should play 3 straight home games in the post season

Yeah it gives advantage to lower seed. Just have to steal 1 of first 2 on the road and your in control.

well if okc handled their business at home, this would be a non issue.

I said that a few weeks ago. So stupid. Nba uses lame travel excuse. Not much issue with that in this series. The lower ranked seed gets three straight home games and refs. Lol.

Cant win both your home games, cant win 1 of 3 on the road.

Obviously the better team won, plain and simple.

I said this was a classic overreaction coming in OKC was -1 at home vs. Miami in the regular season and then -5 in the finals and playoff basketball actually is more suiting to the Heat because Lerron goes 46-48 minutes

    i disagree

if the team with home court advantage can not win 1 game on the road then they do not deserve to win a title

also the system gives the advantage to the better regular season team as they can with the series 4-3 by only winning at home

When did it start? 1985? How many times has the home team swept the 3 middle games?

Thunder won 1 more game during regular season. Clearly the better team. Should have played all 7 games in OKC. This is a travesty.

Thunder still would have to win in Miami no matter the format after blowing game 2

Why are the earlier series 2-2-1-1 but the finals 2-3-2? What is the rationale? Agreed it is unfair. The road team gets to play 60% of the first 5 at home. Why should the road team get to have more home games at any point? Seems illogical.

you can say this, and to a certain extent it should be true, but if this were the case, why not structure it 3-4? i mean, if the higher seeded team should be so good that the scheduling of the games shouldn't matter, as you are saying. there's really just no sense in allowing the lower seeded team to have three home games before the higher seeded team. that's why you play for an advantage--to have an actual advantage in the way the games are scheduled.

i disagree with the 2-3-2 format every year and disagree with it in all sports that it's used, btw. has nothing to do with this year in particular.

If the middle games were played in OKC, trust heat to take 2 out of 3, looking at how they won game 2 on the road. So the better team still won.

it shouldn't be left up to woulda, coulda, shoulda though. the schedule should give the advantage to the higher seeded team. the better team should have the opportunity to have their home games before the lower seeded team has theirs, regardless of speculation on what makes a great team, who would have won what where, etc. it's a debate that shouldn't happen because the schedule shouldn't allow it to happen.

Are you serious? It is an extreme disadvantage to the other team. Think about this the team with home court advantage is already the better team at least record wise. If they win the first 2 at home you have zero chance of winning at home and that would be very deflating. The Thunder only have themselves to blame. Clearly the better team won.

So you think a road team is better off in a 2-2-1-1-1 than in a 2-3-2?
