Why Bill Clinton Works to Undermine Barack Obama

    http://news.yahoo.com/why-bill-clint...164200755.html

Former President Bill Clinton appears to be playing a game that is calculated to embarrass the current president, Barack Obama, whom it is reported he has despised since the 2008 campaign.

First, according to Big Government, Clinton appeared on the Piers Morgan show and slammed the Obama campaign's attack on Mitt Romney's tenure as the CEO of Bain Capital. He is just the latest high-profile Democrat to so.

Then, Clinton went to Wisconsin for a get-out-the-vote effort in advance of the recall election, the Chicago Tribune reports. President Obama has studiously avoided venturing to Wisconsin, concluding as have most people that the attempt to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker is doomed to failure.

Clinton has not been so reticent. It is a win/win situation for him. If by some miracle Walker should fall, it will be seen as entirely due to Clinton's last-minute efforts. If Walker prevails, Clinton will get kudos from big labor and other Democrats for at least trying while the president stayed away.

The new book about Obama, "The Amateur," was recently excerpted in the New York Post. The excerpt depicts how Clinton, fuming with rage at Obama since 2008, attempted to persuade his wife, Hillary, to challenge Obama this year. The secretary of state demurred, but the account illustrates the lengths to which Clinton would go to exact revenge on the president.

And well he might. It is not just the humiliations Obama visited on Hillary Clinton during the last campaign that has enraged the former president. While the Clinton presidency was entertaining from a tabloid standpoint, it was mostly a successful one, especially when Newt Gingrich became speaker of the House in the 1994 takeover of Congress and thus provided some much-needed adult supervision. Clinton sees the ruin that Obama has caused the country and the Democratic Party, and must wail and gnash his teeth at night.

Clinton torments himself with the what-might-have-been of a Clinton restoration, with President Hillary Clinton in the White House, advised by her "First Bubba." Both, at least in Clinton's imagining, the economy and the world situation would be better than in the present timeline. Clinton will have been four years as a gray eminence, albeit as far from holy orders as one can get, and confidently looking forward to four more.

The Clintons would never get the backing of the Democratic establishment, because they are BIGGER than the Democratic establishment. I'm sure Bill would like revenge for being portrayed as a racist. I'm sure Hillary is still mad over HER nomination going to Obama in 2008. I think Hillary accepted the Secretary Of State position to "keep her friends close and her enemies closer". Same for Obama with her. Bill Clinton is probably the greatest politician I've seen in my lifetime, and I wouldn't be shocked if they have something to do with the result of this election before everything's done.

How does it help Bill or Hillary to have Obama lose? I'm not quite getting that. If Hillary wants to run in '16 she's better off with Obama re-elected. Joe Biden is not a threat.

It has always been Hillary's dream to be president and she was the overwhelming favorite all along to win the 2008 democratic nomination before Obama came front and center and stole her dream right out from under her.

I remember Hillary talking about the 2008 election with her presumption that she already won the nomination.

While its possible for her to still be president, she is now tagged with the "loser" emblem after falling to Obama in 2008 and she knows full well that her time might have come and gone. The disappointment Hillary felt must have been INCREDIBLE and I believe the entire country suffered as a result as we would be in much better shape if Hillary won the presidency as opposed to Obama.

Both Hillary and Bill want Obama to lose for this reason and I wouldn't be surprised at them doing everything within their power to help Romney especially considering he's a very moderate republican.

Remember how close Hillary and Oprah were during Clinton's 8 year term and beyond as they were the 2 most powerful women in the world. Its amazing how quickly Oprah dropped Hillary like yesterday's newspaper to endorse Obama solely due to the fact that they shared the same skin color.

You don't see Oprah using her BILLIONS to help anyone but people of her own race.

    Poppycock and balderdash....

    Speculatory pomposity.

Mark Whittington should stick to writing about
astronauts...something about which he has some knowledge.
His political opinion expressions leave much to be desired.

If Clinton was going to sabotage Obama he would have done it in '08. Clinton has helped Obama significantly. Clinton's Bain thing was no different from Corey Book. Is he trying to undermine Obama too? Campaigning against Walker is undermining? Ridiculous speculation that just doesn't jibe with the facts.

Disagree, obama had to much momentum in 08, if he was gonna try to sabotage him, and im not saying he is, this would be the time when obama is at his weakest after his poor job performance over the last 3 plus years. I would love to see democrats polled and asked if they could go back to 08 and revote in their primary who they would vote for, im certain a majority would say hillary.

The Clintons have tremendous respect from the Republic party. A Clinton in the white house certainly can get much more things done regardless of who controls the senate and the house.

Yeah that was so obvious when Clinton was President.
