Liberal has changed to be closer to socialism. Most democrats do not consider themselves liberal or progressive just as most republicans do not consider themselves part of the far right. Your post gives credit to liberals when in fact it was democrats and republicans that achieved all you listed. They would be insulted to be considered a liberal. The only true accomplishment of liberals is welfare and now they can add socialized medicine at least until the Supreme Court has its say.
In name only, everything got muddy on what each party represented around FDR. In Lincoln's day, you would most likely call your self... whatever wasn't republican.

Point being, many people consider the time surrounding FDR/Depression/New Deal, a time when for some rhyme or reason, polity shifted names.

I love that argument. The Republicans were the progressive party when Lincoln was President. It was founded on an anti-slavery platform in the north. That changed in the years after the Civil War. The Republicans were considered liberals in that era. You really should read about the Radical Republicans. Even Benjamin Harrison (a Republican) was criticized by the Democrats for the "Billion Dollar Congress." The tables turned. Sorry, but your argument has no merit.

The only reason the term liberal has changed meaning is because people have come to believe it means something other than what it does. It's only an insult because your propaganda machine has made it one. To say that liberalism has only provided welfare and socialized medicine says that you don't know what the definition means yourself.

If it wasn't for progressive liberals, we all would be living in filth. Dirty air and water.
The dirty word liberal, as mostly used by Fox news and talking heads in here who
don't have their own brains by listening to FNC.

Liberals put money aside and are for the betterment of life. Without them, money
would rule society. Do whatever it takes to make money, screw whoever, use up
    whatever.

Now, don't we all have a little bit of liberal in us?

I can't help but think it would look exactly like the alley that "Al the Bum" from American Psycho was sleeping in when Christian Bale puts him out of his misery after giving him the most simple advice that every non liberal tries to instill in liberals every.

30 years ago, Clinton would be in jail for perjury

if Nixon served today, he'd probably be considered a good President

Couldn't be farther from the truth. The left today might very well be right of Republicans 30-40 years ago. Nixon and Reagan would be considered socialists by the current right-winger standards. Both parties were more "socialist" 30, 50 and 80 years ago. Extreme right wingers have been surprisingly effective of convincing many otherwise, but it isn't so. The individual mandate? Shit, that was a conservative Republican idea 25 years ago while liberals wanted single payer. Now everything has shifted so far right that it's supposedly a liberal thing. It's all nothing but right-wing marketing.
