How did you bet BEFORE the internet?

I played at the OTB and Illinois casino's prior to internet gambling. But actually when i started with ESB back in 95, it was all phone in anyway, www.telebet.com didn't take bets, i don't think they were ever anything more than a call in shop.

Didn't bet online till 99 with Intertops.

I go back to the days when the bookies would say whatever the line was in the new york post that was your line for the day.you could only call a bookie in a 1 hour span say between 6.15 to 7.30 then the shop was closed

you couldnt bet totals there was no such thing as totals in any sport not even football

no totals period back in the earlt 80's

parlay cards, and instead of having a private browser open, had a couple of old fukk books stashed away...you still end up using the same amount of jerkins though so no real savings there.

i'll never forget the day i visited the OTB in champaign while in college in 1995. I bought a Daily Racing Form and on the back cover was this huge ad for English Sports Betting. My eyes about popped out of my head. I got home and made the call and had shit set up the next day.

Brock Landers was born in March of 1995! March Madness was my introduction

yeah 1995 vip sports, had to call in bets and the guy would always read it back like a gangster

milwaukee mike: "i want $500 on the brewers and $400 on the white sox"
vip sports dude: "that's a nickel on the beermakers and 4 dollars on the south siders"

no idea how or why the guy had nicknames for every team...

Early 1990's we had to call the "yellow pages" hotline to check sports results every 30 minutes... Long before tickers... Hated the busy signals on top of it all...
