Love reading about fixed matches.... I think its almost as prominent in tennis as it is in soccer. People in the soccer forum argued with me about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if 10% of all the matches that occur in Europe & Asia are fixed.

    I found this particularly amusing:

"and in an under-21 friendly, Turkmenistan reportedly beat Maldives 3-2 in a "ghost match" -- neither country knew about the contest because it never actually happened, yet bookmakers still took action and fixers still profited."

Yeah I found that really interesting as well that they convinced books to take action on games that never happened. How crazy is that?

I still can't find any info on this "ghost" match.. no articles, nothing... where did ESPN get the info from? Weird.

NFL is just as fixed if not more than many soccer leagues but people mistakenly think it is not because after all everything in America is all wholesome and good.

the ghost match did take place and was part of the reason the media got involved.

A lot of smalltime Eastern European matches are fixed, as are italian but the books are wise to it and actually act as security against it.

Most of the bets go through organized crime and illegals in Asia.

Regulated bookmakers are the first line of defense against fixing.
