I wonder if he would come out of retirement. Nats have a shot this year if healthy. Right now they need a catcher bad.

would be good for nats for sure, tek wouldn't go for it though, guy has ball ability left (and certainly mentoring capability) and it meant more to him to retire a red sox than go elsewhere for a meaningless year or two. next time you see tek in baseball will be when he's back with the sox coaching

You know what? I think you're absolutely right. Nationals will sign varitek, and then all of a sudden, varitek will hit 40 bombs, drive in 169 runs and steadily and suavely hit a crack .399, and the NL East will implode, and the Nats will win 5 World Series until varitek finally retires when jamie moyer dies; WAS signing varitek means nothing, they'll call up a C from AAA.
