LOS ANGELES - Matt Kemp spent much of his Monday night in the Dodger dugout, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt over his jersey.
Occasionally the hood would fall down to his shoulder, exposing Kemp's ears to the still 62-degree air that passes for cold in these parts, and forcing the center fielder to lift the hood back up and over his head.
These are not the usual rhythms of baseball, but they ticked off the seconds of the game's longest active iron-man streak - 399 consecutive games - while the Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 at Dodger Stadium.
After the game, Kemp was placed on the 15-day DL and Jerry Sands was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.
