It is strange that BetFair would advertise this way considering Americans can not join their site.

They renamed it because Betfair bought the naming rights to promote and help legitimize their new exchange betting for horse racing that they are bringing to the US and starting in Cali. Also, Betfair bought TVG, the whole company of TVG not just naming rights in the TVG case.

You should know this JJ. They were trying to do the same with the NJ tracks.

Don't hold your breath waiting for exchange betting in California any time soon. Once the rules are in place which could who knows how long they then will need the tracks and horsemen to agree on it and anyone that follows horse racing knows these two can't even agree on the time of day.

Betfair did the same Australia - bought the naming rights to Sandown Park in Oz.

It is now called betfair park.

So, with Hollywood Park in financial problems - made a good sponsorship opportunity, as Cal State
Govt is bankrupt and Betfair have a good chance of having their US HQ in California, if it can show
it can make good State taxes for a bankrupt State Govt

So, the Hollywood Park sponsorship is a good way to make business relationships for the long term
