is doc halladay injured? or is he hitting twilight of career?

Very disturbing. Doc was not himself last night or previous 2 starts.

    Mentally fading?

    Baseball sharps chime in

Impossible for pitchers to stay on top of their game in this day and age..Cliff Lee, Linceum, Halladay, CC..etc.

He had 1 bad start, dont jump off a cliff guy

Halladay is a professional. He will bounce back.

He never relied on velocity to get outs so he has nothing to worry about because command and pitching IQ will never get worse

Left the team today for personnel issues, was planned before his start. Something on his mind. Supposed to return for his next start.

Could it have because something serious happened in his family and he was mentally fvcked going into the game? MLB Network says he left the Phils to attention to a family matter

Doc is fine... calm down boys... can the guy have one bad game? actually, he did pitch 6 shut out innings.. can he have 1 or 2 bad innings? guy had a family issue on his mind and obviously wasnt himself.. regardless, before last night, through 5 games he had given up an average of 1.6 runs per start..really? we are complaining about 1.6 runs per start? cmon now, give the guy a break, he had a bad two innings..

and really, did someone mention cliff lee?? the same cliff lee that just threw a 10 inning shut out?

He had 3 losses in a row, I could predict the first two, his last game was odd but it was bizarre game all around, final score was Braves 15 phillies 13.

I'd give him 2 more games, if he doesn't pull out of his funk, he may be injured. Fade him for rest of the year.

Overreaction, only 15% of the way through the season. I ain't worried one bit. First 3 performances were gems, next 2 were a bit off but still good enough to obtain the Win if he got run support a game like that is just a once off, and it was against one of the hottest offenses around. Pfft.

strikeout and walk percentages still in line with his career averages, still has a 3.4 era despite getting shelled in the braves game. he will be fine.

His velocity is down which makes his soft stuff easier to stay back on. He left some pitches up against atlanta in the middle innings and McCann and company didnt miss them. He can still be 89-90 and be effective but he must pitch ahead ala cliff lee. strike one is the most important pitch in baseball regardless of "stuff".

Andy Pettitte will be down 3 mph and watch him work. Maddux was 86-90. It is all command of multiple pitches in multiple counts. If you throw mid 90's it allows for more foul balls, sometimes swings and misses, and room for error. It doesn't win you games though. These guys that only have a fastball they can throw for strikes get eaten alive. I dont care if it is 100- It may win you battles, but it will not win you the war.

I think he has 3-4 good years left. His very best may be behind him but he will still be great at times.

if jamie moyer can be effective throwing 77-80, halladay has plenty of productive years left in the tank
