    Interesting Perfect Game Statistics

Phil Humber with the perfect game yesterday. Here's what the last three pitchers who have tossed a perfect game have done in their next starts:

    Mark Buehrle - 0-4
    Dallas Braden - 0-8
    Roy Halladay - 1-3

All aboard the Humber fade train next week.

    Maybe fatigue? High expectations?

Opponents trying to hit "Mr. Perfect" hard, show em up a little bit.

Career ERA is almost 4 and he is on the downside velocity down, basically he is and average pitcher who stayed healthy he was never good to me and a little past his prime at the time.

Mark Buehrle. 200+ innings in EVERY year of his career.
Only one year below .500 and he was 12-13.
He is 41 games over .500 for his career (162-121)
Has a career era of 3.82.
    Has 27 complete games.
    Has a no-hitter.
    Has a perfect game.
    Has won a World Series.
Was the winning pitcher in an All-Star game.

What else can he do to make you think he's a good pitcher? He's Andy Pettitte-lite.

fyi this day and age in the AL that's over a half run better than league average

and he just turned 33 so he's hardly past his prime...dont be surprised if he ends up around 3 era in the NL

Buehrle is not an exciting pitcher to watch by any means, but that doesnt correlate to being bad.

20 games over .500 for a location pitcher is pretty damn good...dont think hes hit 90 on the gun since he was 21

Attention, attention, attention. The next few starts for a pitcher after he throws a perfect game are studied and studied some more so it can not be duplicated again. Ofers make sense after perfectos. You can get damn out of this world odds that he will not throw a perfect game or no hitter in his next start.

Perfect game to 0-8 is unreal. I think it would be even more amazing if a Pitcher went 0-8 and THEN threw a perfect game. Do you have any stats on Pitchers records BEFORE they threw a perfect game?

Buehrle took a perfect game into the 6th inning in his very next start after his perfect game

Braden went 8 innings in his next start and had a 3.00 era over his next 3 starts. In that 0-8 streak the A's gave scored 2 runs or less in 7 of those games

Halladay may have been 1-3 but 3 of those 4 were quality starts. Phillies scored 7 total runs in those 4 games.

Randy Johnson threw 4 quality starts in his next 5 games and 8 out of 10 (likely would have been 9 with better defense).

    I don't think there's much to this

You can't compare the M's line up to the Red Sox line up. Humber will end the year with an era around 4.

If you were to come on this forum knowing nothing about baseball, you would think EVERY pitcher in the majors sucked (especially relievers)

Would be interesting to know what the Ba of the team that gets no hit is. Of course chucking a no hitter or pgame is an incredible achievement but I think it has a bit to do with facing a lite hitting club
