How about the airlines stop selling the same seat to more than one person in the hope that one of them doesn't show up? That's a ridiculous policy. United could have avoided this by increasing the offer to a point where four people would have accepted.

I see people do that on a daily basis here in the states, whether it might be trying to get hit by a car, or accusing fast-food restaurants of putting crap in their food. Yea the video looks dramatic but let's all be real here. Do you want to wait an hour for this guy to talk back and forth with the security guys? As mentioned above, he was going out one way or the other and choosing to walk out and take it up with the airline once off the plane would have been the best option. I hate flying with idiots.

Exactly - it's one thing to over book but it's another to let passengers on the plane then try to take them off just to accommodate your employees trying to hitch a ride. That's bullshit. Yes, the guy signed an agreement to allow changes to his flight but he's about to reach a huge settlement as a result of this one. Lucky mofo.

Airline policies are bullshit anyway. They can be late and delay you by moving you to another flight. But, you better not be late or try to make a change on your end.
