Nope, no chance. The are hard hitters yes, but take the pads off and play, you'll have an even game at least. The issue in winning would be scoring. Garunteed those 250lb linemen can't run down the pitch constantly, let alone kick a funky shaped ball.

    AFL wins easy

haha, even if the rules were hybridised they wouldn't win. Too many skill factors to think about and no protection. Well, I guess it depends on how you hybridise it.

You'll end up with 22 Izzy Folau-s against 22 AFL players.

Some of those NFL guys just waddle and hit people. They barely even run. And with loads of padding. How the heck would they manage having to handball, kick, etc? All whilst having other guys tackling you with no protection. No hope for the Giants unless they massively shortened the match and changed the rules a lot.

All non americans want to believe things like rugby players are tuff etc etc ... The reason they wear pads is because they are so dangerous they would kill people every hit..

Try running full speed head to head against a top linebacker in the NFL. They would spend the rest of their life in a wheel chair.

    This is true..

But I don't find the game to even be remotely close, so I would say the AFL players win in a, well.. AFL game..

If they were to play American Football.. then yes the giants win..

they are both professionals in their own sport and I honestly don't think they are both any close to being the same game..

Rugby League would be a much closer comparison, always wondered how they would compete against each other. RL no where near as professional as NFL though.

Would probably end up watching NYG special teams squad, not Manning or Cruz or the linemen. Players dont have the exact skill set, but the coaches can still strategize.

give the Giants 2 months to prepare and practice hypothetically and a full "training camp" size roster to whittle down and they'd make a real game of it. AFL team would be fave, but the intimidation factor after getting hit hard a few times might give the Giants a mental edge.

why would the giants put their 300+ lb offensive lineman on the field from their roster of 53 you can find 18 very very athletic players that are bigger and faster than the best AFL players. Skill positions, kickers, secondary, linebackers, maybe some Defensive Ends.

I think the black nfl players are too quick and strong for white AFL players

    It would be interesting

USA team would get 2 weeks to prepare

There's no timeouts after every play and most NFL players can't kick very well with accuracy.

The only useful NFL players would be kickers and punters.

There's actually bigger players in NRL than the guys you masturbate to like Ray Lewis and Brandon Jacobs.

Majority of NFL players have no endurance. They can never improve it either

AFL/NRL players would never make it in the NFL for majority of positions, not explosive/quick enough.

who are the biggest and fastest AFL/NRL players? I gotta think the talent pool is drastically smaller. No way they are bigger, faster, stronger (combined)

Lets say all things equal and both sports had the same talent pool/popularity/people playing the game. Ausie rules players would be better athletes with more endurance and multi-skilled. NFL would be more specialised in one thing only, but it would be excellent and unbeatable at that one thing, most probably charging into others, horsepower.

they aren't equal and that is not how this debate started with the OP and how it continued. Furthermore I'd say NFL players have many specializations as well, and not just ONE THING. Hell we even take some of your kickers and hire them in the NFL like the guy from the chargers in the 90's. The skill sets are learnable at just about any sport. Given time the BEST ATHLETES will dominate that sport/skill if the market rewards them ($)

the question is, given 2 weeks or 2 months could athletes from a gene pool and training ground 10x and 100x bigger beat specialized athletes in a sport with quite a bit of cross-over? I'd bet on the specialized well rounded skills of the AFL athletes, but I think it could be close if it were one NFL team vs one AFL team.

IF it were all NFL players vs all AFL players. I think the NFL players close the gap quite a bit. Give me Dan sepalveda as captain in that case.

West African Blacks that dominate the NFL have a very limited skill set which is only based on short bursts.
Thus why they are basically useless in sports such as soccer.

The only question would be if the "pace" of the AFL/NRL game would give enough time to recover in order to be effective.

Can see defensive linebackers making a decent prop in rugby union. 300lbs+ designed for short powerful bursts no padding or helmets though

People are actually taking this thread seriously? They are 2 completely different sports with minimal similarities. It's like asking if a baseball team could beat a cricket team.

I think the endurance and kicking skills of the AFL players would give them the edge playing their own game. When people infer that NFL players are weak or pussies because they wear pads or helmets and wouldn't be tough enough to play without them, they are clueless.

Thread title says aussie rules on their field.

You have top tier NFL players who don't even understand the rules of their own league - you think they'll pick up on a new game and compete physically and strategically just because they're good athletes?

    Not even close.

Can you imagine a 6-3 , 245 pound linebacker that can run like a fukkin deer playing AFL??

He would hurt half of the aussies

AFL edge of course but they would physically get pounded
