Is there still a reason to stay a pro? The answer is yes (for now).

Another thing that pros have over non-pros have just been taken away and that is free entry into daily poker tournaments which is huge for extra points a person could earn. Before this it was free entries into sbr contests that got taken away and prizes changed from regular points into sbr book freeplays.

Whats left for pros over non-pros is 6 extra daily points, trivia, and the ability to purchase things in the sbr store. With inflation of sbr store prices going up every year and the ability to get points becoming less and less as time goes on, the value of being a pro is losing some value.

Wow, so they don't even have "donate to a charity" as an option anymore. What a joke. Not that I gave a shit about going pro anyway, but if I was going to do it that'd be the only avenue I'd take. I asked some of the mods to look into adding more charities to the list, and was basically told to fukk off lol. Real pieces of shit here.

Theres def drawbacks as of late to becoming a pro but I think them extending everyones membership an extra year more then makes up for whatever in the process we have lost.

I think there is still benefit but it has diminished significantly since it's beginning. Being a Sbr Pro is not what is once was that is for sure.

Pro status definitely has taken a hit. In the beginning it was great with a lot of options, but those are slowly dwindling. The free year is a bonus, but not everybody received that either. Just a majority of users that were already pro. So see what happens in another year of what changes, but overall seems like Pro Status is losing it's appeal.

With that said, I am okay with it, but losing out on Poker kind of hurts the value to me.. I'd lean towards not renewing my pro status if it were today and I didn't have a point debt. I'd just be a non-pro and if I racked up the 5000 points I'd probably go pro then and cash out some kind of gift cards.

Points/pro status are slowly dwindling in value compared to what it once was, but free stuff is free stuff for something I would be doing anyway. I don't get squat for posting on the other forums I post at. Cant really complain, just in the last month alone I have bought a $550 laptop, home brew kit, studio headphones, guitar capo, guitar strings, couple video games, and a USB flash drive with betpoints (via newegg & Amazon gift cards).

Maybe I overlooked something somewhere but I can't sit in on the poker ring games and the Tournament page is a complete black although there should be tournaments throughout the day and I played in one about a week ago. Assuming now I have to go pro to play any poker?

Or the fact you can't win any real money from contests unless you are pro. I would have won money in the BTP contest but wasn't pro in time.

The $15,000 + 1,000,000 points tourney starts next week. You can play in the daily tourneys as a non Pro but only Pros receive cash and the points given away at the final tourney.

I agree with the OP. A year or 2 from now lord only knows what this program will yield. Things have been reduced, rollovers, etc.

It will be interesting to see next year if it gets better. With the pop ups and tout ads you would think it would be generating income. It is just a matter if they give back.

Just announced a poker contest that gives away $15,000 in cash to pro's only. If poker isn't your thing then last year they gave away $10,000 to BTP winners (again, pro's only).

I don't see what the fuss is about. If you aren't good enough at poker to win that contest or good enough at capping to win the BTP then it's probably best if you don't waste your money going pro, since you'll probably just lose it if you bet with it anyway

no doubt the value has gone down but even without a single point from poker/trivia/casino you get 4380 points in a year. There are a number of items you can get in that range

almost $300 in pizza e-gift cards
$150 in ebay/amazon etc gift cards
    $100 v-i-s-a gift card

all for spending $200 through Purchasegoods(amazon) or sportsbook (non USA) which you would spend either way. If your gonna buy a camera or computer through amazon and get $300 in free pizza whats wrong with that

2 years ago SBR had a writing contest. They gave me 100 points for this post:

"One thing I especially like about SBR is all the hilarious and interesting people. But that's not what makes SBR so great. There is a WEALTH of information to be learned here if you know where to look. Before I started gambling online I had absolutely no clue as to what a GOOD book was and what a BAD book was. Now I consider myself fairly educated. The Tools and Calculators they have here are incredible. For those 2 things alone this could easily be a paysite. But oddly enough, SBR pays you! To come here everyday and share your thoughts. The points add up quickly and the deals at the SBR store are fantastic! This is easily the best gambling forum that I have ever been to."

I stand by this post. If SBR never gave me another free thing ever I would still consider it one of the best websites of all time. Moral of the story... SBR isn't putting a gun to anyone's head to come here. If you don't like the changes they have basically been FORCED to make then don't come back.

The play is to rack up points as a non-pro and if you get enough (I think the max you can carry over is 5k or something?), then turn pro.
