Sports Trading Exchange - Stiff job/Feedback Needed (title changed by shari91)

I made various posts about the Sports Trading Exchange back in December. I learned about the Sports Trading Exchange from SBR Poster offshoregenius77 who started a thread about The Sports TradingExchange titled "New Betting Exchange" in the "Sportsbooks &The Industry" forum.
Iwas obviously skeptical of this exchange and was only going to make a small deposit but I had many communications with offshoregenius77 (OG77) who said he had a friend that had been playing there for over a year withno problems and OG77 said he had made a very large deposit and was keeping a large balance himself so I decided to make a large deposit. OG77 said he had been paid quickly 3 times already in the last 2 months and I saw he was alongtime poster here so I thought it would be safe. So I made deposits totaling $7000. I did very well at the Sports Trading Exchange and increased my balance to $32,621. ButI have not been paid anything.
I have learned that this was a scam from thestart and the Sports Trading Exchange was never a valid operating sportsbook. It is also obvious that OG77 was in on the scam and was not simply recommending a poor sportsbook. I know this because OG77 would not provide asimple transaction report from either the sports trading exchange website or the payment processor website (i.e. lib res) to prove his claims that he had been paid three times already were true. I asked OG77 for the name of his friend that had been playing there fora long time but he did not provide this information either.
It was bad enough that OG77 and the SportsTrading Exchange scammed people out of their money. But then they tried to steal player's identities and asked for personal information and copies of our drivers licenses. I hope nobody sent them this information in hopes that they might get paid.
I sent all my communications with OG77 to SBR in January and said that I expect that SBR would take some action against OG77 for using theSBR website to scam members of the SBR forum. But it appears nothing has been done. OG77 still seems to have an SBR posting account and I have not gotten any additional replies from SBR. I realize SBR management must be very busy with many important activities but Iwould think it would be a priority to remove posters that outright scam other people out of their money.
SBR has helped me many times over the years and I really appreciate the help and don't want SBR to be mad at me for bringing this up. But I think SBR should take some action here. I don't know if it is possible for SBR to provide information about OG77, but if he resides in the USA it may be possible to take legal action against him if SBR could provide some information.

Hi cincy - Can you forward everything to forum@sportsbookreview.com once again please? I'm not sure what, if anything, SBR can even do about this if the two of you were conducting business off of the forum but at least we can take a look. Thanks.

No, he's saying the exchange never even existed. I'm out and on my phone right now so I can't do a proper search but the only thing I can find is a post at another forum from a one post user saying that a new book is operating in the Bitcoin environment. At least if he forwards the info of their private conversations, I can take a look when I get back to see if a poster violated an SBR policy. If the post I found is referring the same thing and it was a Bitcoin scam, I don't see how SBR can help recover his money though.

Yeah sorry, I phrased that wrong. They've got a website but as we all know, any of us can make one from our house and take bets but never pay out. Would be nice if someone else who has played there could give some feedback.

Going to change the title of this thread and link it to S&I. Maybe that will help.

I forwarded the information to forum@sportsbookreview.com again.

All my correspondence with offshoregenius77 was on the forum, either from his promoting the Sports Trading Exchange in his post or through private messages he sent me. SBR is welcome to read all my the private messages from OG77.

The Sports Trading Exchange was a valid website for a short time. But it was a scam from the start that was setup only to scam people into making deposits with no intention of ever paying anyone. They never existed as a valid betting exchange. They posted fake offers on their exchange and never paid anyone.

I absolutely realize that I was a moron to trust SBR poster offshoregenius77 and make such a large deposit. I'm not asking for SBR to help get my money back because I realize it was a scam and SBR can't get my money back. But I do expect SBR to take against SBR forum posters that use the SBR forum to scam others. I started this tread so SBR would take some action against OG77. This is not a case where OG77 simply recommended a bad sportsbook. OG77 was in on the scam and no action was taken by SBR.

cincy - sorry to hear it man. I posted a warning in the original thread at the time - it was a pure matchbook clone that obv didn't have real offers. Some games were +104 on each side and they only paid out once a month (allegedly). I know they ripped off some bitcoin people too (they took a lot more than LR) - really sucks as the trust level with bitcoin itself seems low.

There are a few legit bitcoin books out there - but you are right, this was a pure scam from the start.

To be fair though, the poster in question wasn't a guy who had just signed up for the forum. He has an '08 signup date and many people give those dates a lot of credence when weighing opinions from other posters, right or wrong. There were warning signs about this "book" in a thread now that I've had a chance to look into it a bit more and there is another poster who I believe is trying to chase down money but I'm awaiting a response from him. Regardless though the whole thing sucks... it's one thing for SBR to try to recover funds from an offshore or Euro book but with Bitcoins it's a whole different thing. And if SBR comes out with a warning and says "hey guys, be careful because you could be sending your money to a 16yo zit faced tosser" then you'll have those few negative nellies who will assume it's because SBR wants you to deposit with sponsors and avoid Bitcoin books. Can't win either way.

    to provide my perspective:

I made a large deposit, numbering in the hundreds in terms of number of bitcoins, or thousands in terms of dollars. I have emailed them over 20 times in the past 2 months, to no avail. I have spoken with Mt. Gox admins, who basically can track where bitcoins go, IP addresses associated with them, etc. They seem to have information regarding this matter from my conversations with them, but ask that I file a police report in order for them to release information for an investigation. I will be going to the police when I get back home. Using a tool known as block explorer, you can see where your bitcoins currently are, if you still know the address you sent them to. From looking at the bitcoins address I sent my coins to, most of the bitcoins are still in that account. A few small transactions have gone in and out of that account, but the majority of my funds are still there. I cannot retrieve those funds unless the owner of that bitcoin account sends them to my address. I fully intend to recover those funds, and will be in communication with the police as well as Mt. Gox, the bitcoin trading exchange, the track down these site owners and recover my funds.

furthermore, tracking where my deposits went, upon investigation it appears this guy is dumping all the bitcoins into one account. His dumping activity first started at the beginning of feburary, or the same time he sent out a mass email saying to please wait until Feburary 22nd for bitcoin withdrawals.

    http://blockchain.info/address/1DkyB...rQepAvnsRyHoYM

He has 180,000 bitcoins moved into this account, which translates to about 1 million dollars USD. And the funny thing is, he thinks he'll get away with it.

Can you really track where bitcoins go, or can Mt Gox reverse transactions? I thought bitcoin is designed in a way that you can not do any of these.

you can track where they go easily, just follow the links from address to address. The bitcoins are also likely stored in a Mt Gox "wallet", so it wouldn't be a matter of reversing the transaction as much as it is confiscating the account's funds. This exchange currently stores 80% of the bitcoins in circulation.

its like saying the NYSE can't shut down stock of a company that's illegally tied to funding terrorism. an exchange can do anything they want. when you control an entire market you control who the players are.

It is not impossible to prove OG77 was in on the scam. OG77 was the poster that started the thread about the sports trading exchange. OG77 made various claims about making large deposits to the exchange and about being paid many times by the exchange. OG77 claims he had a friend that had been playing at the sports trading exchange for a long time with many payouts. But OG77 has refused to provide his friend's name or contact information and has not provided a simple transaction report from the Sports Trading Exchange website or the payment processor website to prove his claims about being paid were valid. OG77 was certainly in on the scam. I started this thread because I don't want any other SBR forum members to get scammed by OG77. I expect SBR to take some action against posters that use the SBR forum and SBR private messages to scam other SBR posters.

honestly you should be more concerned with taking steps to get your money back then whether or not another poster lured you into this. what happens to OG77 isn't going to affect whether you have $7000 in your bank account or not at this point.
