Yeah, he was one of Pop's favorite players and a solid contributor.

They were looking for a "Bruce Bowen" type defensive player and liked what they saw in Kawhi Leonard, and Gary Neal proved to be a solid backup to Tony Parker last year, allowing them to trade Hill.

i think I remember reading that management didn't think Hill's ceiling was that high. And like spurginobili they had Gary Neal already and were looking to add some athleticism.

Didn't George Hill like showing off his junk on the internet?

Hill will be the starting pg for the Pacers before the season is out. Spurs may not have liked his size, but I guess everybody is bigger than collison.

I thought George Hill was a solid fit to the Spurs... I'd like to know the real reason why they let him go???

Yeah, Rasto Nesterivich to replace the Admiral was a beauty, and RJeff is the best 3/4 in the West.

I think some posters above gave a good reason with Neal being a decent backup. They also probably knew he would be tough to keep money wise and getting a solid young wing early in draft doesn't happen very often for a franchise like spurs.

I was surprised they didn't amnesty Jefferson.

They actually got Richard Jefferson to restructure his contract.

Besides as we al know, keeping a roster young w/ new talent is for the period of time the Spurs have is tough when you are consistently picking high in th draft.

Restructure then trade him at the deadline for an older more volatile player in captain jack. Yes. The spurs suits screw the pooch just like everybody else. Bad move bringing in Jefferson all the way around. Direct beneficiary of the Kidd movement.

What are the spurs doing at the trade deadline? Are they trying to give away the division?
