What A Weak List Of NBA Hall Nominees

2012 Hall of Fame Finalists: Reggie Miller, Bernard King, Don Nelson

Reggie, Bernard and Don are just three of the finalists for this year’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class. Other notable names include Rick Pitino, Maurice Cheeks, Bill Fitch, and even Nike chairman Phil Knight. Per the AP: “Five-time NBA All-Star Reggie Miller and Don Nelson, the league’s winningest coach, headline the list of 12 finalists for the 2012 class for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Miller was joined Friday by three other first-time finalists — five-time NCAA Final Four coach Rick Pitino, former NBA coach Bill Fitch and two-time Olympic gold medalist Katrina McClain. Previous finalists on the ballot again are Nelson, Maurice Cheeks, Bernard King, Dick Motta, Hank Nichols, Ralph Sampson, Jamaal Wilkes and the All-American Red Heads, known as the female version of the Harlem Globetrotters and the first women’s professional basketball team. The class of 2012 will be announced April 2 at NCAA Final Four in New Orleans. A finalist needs 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee for election.”

I would lean towards Reggie Miller belonging, but that's it. Another example of what the NBA is doing to itself... Watering down.. expanded before it was ready. Watch the next few years with the NFL and check out the players that DON'T get in the Hall of Fame. It will make the NBA even worse.

mo cheeks is 10th all time in assists and 5th in steals. if you wanted a guy to run the offense, weren't gonna find that many better.

    yes, completely biased.

Reggie Miller scored over 25000 points and was one of the most clutch players in NBA history. He deserved to get in last year, ahead of Chris Mullin that's for sure. Certainly not the worst group ever, look at 2007, not a single player:

    2007 Texas Western Team
    2007 Van Chancellor Coach
    2007 Pedro Ferrandiz Coach
    2007 Phil Jackson Coach
    2007 Mirko Novosel Coach
    2007 Mendy Rudolph Referee
    2007 Roy Williams Coach

One thing to keep in mind is it is the basketball HOF and not just the NBA HOF. That's why Sampson could arguably get in. He's one of the greatest college players of all time. But then you'd have to consider guys like Laettner at some point too I guess.

Sampson couldn't hang as a pro where as he was the best in college. Not liking that. Cheeks--eh. Julius Erving made that team what it was

Never thought of that..Sampson did have major impact on baskets

I do not think Miller played in enough big games
A few good games vs Knicks seems to get way overblown

JJ: Reggie Miller hit every clutch shot. 8 points in 8 seconds. If Rodman and Mullin are in, Reggie Miller should sure as hell get in.

If this is college included, Laettner should get in. He was one of the best college players ever--I'd love to see that

Mullin should of never got it

Rodman is a 5 time champ and had MAJOR IMPACT in ALL

Not even in same league as Miller and Mullin

its not just the NBA HOF but the BASKETBALL HOF, so their HS and College contributions are weighed in as well as their NBA career... hence Ralph Sampson for instance.

guy was a 3 time college player of the year.....

How can you jokers say that Reggie Miller doesn't belong in the HOF. That's absurd

except the difference is that there's already a college basketball hall of fame

funny enough, sampson hasn't even made it there yet. three time POY whose next biggest accomplishment is losing to chaminade in the biggest upset of all time

Like 13+ great years for Reggie... I'd take him over any player today except like 4 or 5.
