I remember going to a Kings game at the Forum and some guy in the audience yelled "come on Luc, you pussy!"

Fedor is one of my favorites also, for all the reasons Galt listed. Maybe a tie between Fedor and Roy Keane.

Brian Dawkins and Brian Westbrook. Both guys left it all on the field and played hard every game. I'm pretty young (17) so these guys are the guys that I grew up watching and made me love the sport and the Birds.

    Roger Staubach
Born and raised a Cowboys fan, as a kid I couldn't wait for Sundays just to watch Staubach play. The man is a leader, a winner and a class act.

Magic Johnson, because Showtime was the best basketball I have watched and enjoyed in my life. Others I thought of Doc J, the first to basically fly on the court, Larry Bird, at the end of the game with the game on the line the ball was going to him and he would make it. Ali - he called himself the Greatest and he was. And honorable mention Wes Parker my favorite Dodger growing up.

Tony Gwynn- Never met the guy, but by every account I've ever heard, he is the definition of a quality human being. Rarefied air for anyone, no less a millionaire hall of fame pro athlete. I hope he can sort some of his health issues

Steve Prefontaine- Pure guts and tenacity. Scary to think what Usain Bolt would do with half the heart of Pre.

Lance Armstrong- Probably doped like everyone else, but overcame near certain death to cause more euro butthurt (literally and metaphorically) than both of the Bushes en route to becoming the greatest professional sufferer cycling has ever seen.

Dikembe Mutombo- A jovial ambassador for the game and an entire continent of people. Always rooted for him to do well.

Ayrton Senna- Watching him drive is poetry in motion. On the ragged edge from green the checkers.

Ray Lewis- The reason why we watch football. One of the best ever to put on pads.
