Is the arm considered a hand ball? I think so. It was a clear hit by his arm.

Not me. It was an obvious deliberate hand ball.

"A hand ball is called when a player (excluding the goal keeper when he is in the box) intentionally touches the ball with his hand or any part of his arm from shoulder to the finger tips. This means that if a player touches the ball unintentionally, it is not a hand ball."

Fuk them. Faking injuries, delaying the game. Settling for a point like that's going to help them. Karma.

I missed the replay Leaper...so if what you're saying is true, than it was a legit penalty

Letter of the law he touched the ball. Spirit of the rule that shit was not a handball let's be real here.

P.S. Lol 8 minute stoppage then a winning PK in the 99th minute, no that doesn't seem shady one bit

P.p.s. Thank god because I've got chile ML in a couple parlays

Did you not think he deliberately moved his arm out? It seemed that way to me.

As far as the 8 minutes goes, Bolivian players were laying down during that 8 minutes so it was extended. There should be yellow cards for deliberately slowing down action by falling down, in my opinion.

They also can call these penalties on an unintentional hand ball, that stopped a shot on goal or a dangerous pass towards the goal. It's really up to the referee how he wants to interpret each play. They never go 100% by the rule book on these things.

I used to work with an Orthodox Jewish lady from Ukraine. I would ask her Russian phrases like dubroye utro and bud sterova and da svedanya and then use them in daily life. It was fun.

I saw both hands behind the back and him trying to avoid the bailout kick at his shoulder but you're right it's up to interpretation.

I agree 100% the refs should put a stop to the obvious time wasting, but again it's all interpretation so nothing will change.

By the rule it was a hand ball. They got away with one in the first half regardless. Agree though, they played a hell of a game thwarting attack after attack..heartbreaking.. Won my ML I took on Chile in the 80th minute though, no complaints here

Here's the video. Skip to the 1:20 mark to see the hand ball called.

The way I see it the Bolivian defender had his hand behind his back. When the Chilean player hit the ball the Bolivian defender jumped up to block the kick and as a result, his arm hit the ball.

yeah you cannot extend an elbow like that...you can keep your hands and arms behind your back while you're jumping, but they gotta stay connected to your body.

ref made a correct call here

Thanks for the video. That call looks dodgy to me, I'd say no PK, but the ref was probably pretty p'ed off at Bolivians after watching them park the bus the whole game. The second goal was pretty sweet though, fluky but sweet.

Thanks for pointing out the second goal, the one by the Bolivian. If anyone wants to see a sweet goal, go to the 0:50 mark.
