Sure he plays hardball, but knows professional sports is a business and does it better than just about anyone else.
Will never, ever overpay for free agents, has an uncanny knack for getting talent inexpensively.

Will never let players hold him or the team hostage.

Was instrumental in ending the strike/lock out.

Eventhough I'm a leaf fan, Ken Holland in Detroit is probably one of the best in hockey. I can't remember the last time the wings didn't make the playoffs.
