    2012 Slam Dunk Contest

    I normally stay away from betting crap like this but it may be fun to talk about at least. Anyone got any thoughts on the field this year? Other than it's the most boring list of names I can remember?

    Iman Shumpert -165
    Paul George +335
    Derrick Williams +550
    Chase Budinger +825

    I'm leaning towards throwing a little bit on the field vs. Shumpert personally, just so I can watch and care.

    I like Paul George, those are pretty good odds for him to win. Watched his highlights in college, he's got ridiculous hops.

    U of A is going to represent.

    The field is guaranteed vs Iman Shumpert as he is out.

    Since they'll probably cancel that bet, throw on George/Williams/Chase and get money. George at +350 will cover all your bets + some, which works if Evans doesn't win.

    Evans isn't winning anything.

    As a U of A alum. Bet on Derrick first and Chase a close second, Chase can absolutely fly - Derrick can bring down the rim.

    I did this last night instead of betting the field vs shumpert, but apparently they cancel all the bets made if all 4 scheduled don't compete (at 5dimes at least).

    I like Williams now I think. Depending on the new odds.

    They gave him - cause they figured Shumpert would get the most votes. Also I think he's won more dunk contests in the past not sure. All 4 participants don't look creative at all..... and none of the guys have overly impressive hops either. Always a popularity contest.... Blake was the 3rd best dunker last year maybe 2nd best... and he won.

    Not sure how but bookies probably figure Shumpert has the most likelihood of a flashy dunk and a win seeing as he the rest of the players come from small market teams. +160 for the field was still good odds if you ask me but not for a large sum cause that contest is fishy as hell. It was +160 a week ago... people are just not fast enough to get the best price not that it matters with this Jeremy Evans replacement.

    Either way if Shumpert is hurt bookies lucked out.

    i really like budinger in this one for the pure value in it. Of course its a popularity contest and no one is going to vote for the white guy, but he has amazing hops and was highly recruited for volleyball coming out of highschool.

    5dimes refunded my bets, and update the new odds. Chase is now a favorite.

    Derrick Williams is the only bet on the board. Chase is a higher riser, but Derrick will do those Blake like power dunks that get people all hyped up.
