to say that most of the black nba players are uneducated is somewhat true .........
most of them went to college to play ball, not get an education

why would he be culture shocked?
hes an american, he grew up in cali, he must have balled with other athletes his entire life
u think he just got off the boat from china?
    get a grip people

I wonder if Lin winds up like Todd Marinovich. Too much pressure, just crumbles and starts snorting lines.

A decent amount of Lin's classmates from Harvard (including those of Asian descent) have surely migrated to NYC / Wall Street for those hedge fund and big finance jobs. Guess what? Some of them also tend to spend on models & bottles just like the NBA players. You guys need to get a grip. This isn't just a black & white world of extremes that we live in. Tyson Chandler, although having been raised in Compton for most of his life, also spent time on a farm with his grandparents in a more rural area. These years grounded him. Grant Hill grew up upper middle class, and even Michael Jordan himself grew up in a modest, but middle class North Carolina household. He only got into the bottles & models a bit later, but his early years weren't all that different from Lin. You can look it up.

Of course there's going to be a culture shock, he's never been around such men and he's never experienced this lifestyle.

How can you call that racism? It's a fact.

this is a conundrum. i have pondered the answer to this question many times.

Lin plays the game like white guys used to play.... with the brain and very cerebral.

thus he's a novelty in the nba.

anyways, he's probably 3 inches.... maybe 4 inches tops

    Realists nowadays are racists, lol.

If you break out US crime statistics and read them one by one to the PC crowd, they'd blast you for being racist. Same with IQ tests, lol.

Anyways, the crazy thing is you PC clowns actually believe the non-reality drivel you've been spoonfed. Try thinking for yourself sometime...

There are more delicate ways to describe differences in socioeconomic status and culture, but putting your head in the sand doesn't change reality. The irony of all the Al Sharptons in this thread is that athletes in the locker room makes for the least PC environment imaginable. They are probably calling him lady chinky eyes and he's making jokes about fried chicken and chrome rimzz.

Athletics is supposed to be a meritocracy. No one has to pretend that we're all the same.

If you listen to him, you can't hear any culture clash. If you close your eyes and listen to him, you would swear he's a black dude.

But can anyone ever remember an NBA player emerging midseason to this extreme? I can't think of any. A week ago he was close to being cut, now they're going to think about whether they should build around him. Doesn't get anymore WTF than that!

lin pretty much got up of the D-league bench and started taking over
i dont think i have ever seen anything like this before

a guy gets off teh bench and is the clear cut leader on the floor
its very similar to tom brady and kurt warner
but i think Lin is doing more than those 2 their first time out

NFL QB is a different animal. Never seen it in NBA, but I'm sure there are examples.
