Had my best score at work in 11 years of Dealing!

Well my trip to Vegas didn't go well at all. We lost everything we brought, including the damn SB bets on the Patriots. Well the best thing happened to me though when I got back. WORK! Okay so I am a Black Jack dealer here at a local indian casino. I got sat-mon off from work and had to come back to work Wed morning at 2am. We flew back from Vegas and got in at 6pm. I went to work knowing it was my Friday I thought at least I have the next two days off. Then it happened. My best day dealing. I had some huge George at my table and made $4200 from him in 30 minutes. THEN when I went to my next table the person who runs the tables asked around if anyone wanted to go home early and after making $4200 I thought about it but said nah, because I could hit that guy again. Sure enough I hit him again and made another $3000. I made $7200 !! I am sooooo happy. After them taking 30% for uncle sam I still brought home about 5 g's . My old high was $2300 which I didn't ever think I would beat. Just thought I would share my good fortune with the rest of you. Already funded my 5dimes account yesterday. LET'S DO THIS BABY!!

EZ, we knew you were talking about tips. Do you have to split your tips with the other dealers or do you keep your own tips.

    Congrats btw!

dealers on table games pull tips unless it's a poker table. No casino that I know of allows individual dealers to take home their own tips.

Does dealing yourself a sick 5 card hand to 21 to screw the whole table give you pleasure? I've thought of this and I have to admit I'd find it hilarious.

Yes we keep our own tips. My math wasn't incorrect its just he is tipping out the entire time he plays so he tipped out $28,000 and walked away winning $20,000. So his winnings didn't include the tips he gave out. Some of the casinos in California go for your own tips even as a blackjack dealer and I work at one that does. I cashed out $7,200 in tips and I get to take home 70% of that the other 30% goes on our check to help pay the taxes each pay period.

They do at most casinos. Some don't.

Hooters Casino doesn't pool tips in the pit. I think every other casino in Las Vegas does though.

You guys used to pool your tips at Pechanga if I remember correctly.

I dont like that, I think each dealer should get to keep his own chips. Why should the grumpy old dealer not interacting with the players gat a share of the happy go lucky dealer's tips when he is earing the tips by interacting with the players and making it a fun table to play at.

Haha Dad. I myself am not Asian but yes being Caucasian I am definitely in the minority at my work. They have gone back and fourth with pooling tips and going for your own. They started going for your own then for a few years they were pooling tips. This is when some top guys were stealing from the dealers and not since I have been there which is almost 5 years we go for our own tips. Much better in most every dealers opinion.

how do dealers report tips in cali...i heard for poker dealer they only report $12hr and bj reports $15hr thats including their pay wage with...example something i hear: if a dealer's minimum wage is $10hr and they make total of $200 in tips on a 8 hour shift they are only reporting $16 from the $200 and the rest (200-16= 184) $184 is cash take home since they are require to report a minimum pay rate of $12 a hour ($10minimum wage+$2 for each hour you work on that 8hr shift)...

Actually at most casinos now out here u pay taxes on whatever u make exactly. Years ago they all did something sorta like what u are referring to. We had set toke rates. Say our toke rate was $13 per hour, we would pay taxes for an 8 hour day as though we made $104 in tips for the 8 hours. Some days we only make $50 in tips and still paid more to Uncle Sam then we should have but most always we would make much more and still only pay like we made $104 in tips. Those were the good days. Now we turn are tips in everyday and they count it log it and give us 70% back in cash right there the rest goes on our check. When we get paid they take the taxes out of our hourly and 30% of our tips they kept. We pay full taxes.

Also we only get paid federal minimum wage instead of state minimum wage so we basically work for tips.

From my playing experience at the 2 local card rooms the tips are way better then where i work...we must have the cheapest players playin where i'm at..i recall you posted ur pay stub on the previous post...if you dont mind me asking what did you make this yr after taxes?...as for me i made i net 30k after taxes..which is ok where i live but not in the bay area..if i'm goin to move there it has to be better
