#248Dom, he didn't know much about gambling or NCAAB beyond being a fan. He picked a lot of winners, a lot of losers and in the end he couldn't handle the pressure. Diamond dozenComment -

#251If you post threads saying crazy shit like put your house on a play, then you should be prepared for the backlash if the play loses. Flipper toned it down and I kind of liked the guy, but as Kraken said, diamond dozen.Comment -

#252Look many people post plays, you get mocked when you tell people your picks are locks and stupid shit like that. There are very few here on the forum that will go completely out of their way to troll and mock a person just posting plays. The people that go out of their way to get as much attention as possible have to realize you are going to get praise when you go on that winning streak but you are also going to get buried when you lose especially if you get cocky and piss people off by popping off to every single person that doesn't have your same view before the game starts. It's like putting a bullseye on your back.Comment -

#254Yeah there is quite a bit of the "all in" plays on here. If I actually put my entire roll/house/car on one game, I would be too embarrassed to announce it.Comment -

#264Looking down and mocking others is not the way of wise men. A forum should embrace others with similar interests not hate.

#267We all had the spirit in us at one time or the other and I find it sad that so many like to see it defeated. Flipper never threatened anyone that I'm aware of and the fact that others take joy in seeing a brother fail instead of teaching him is detestable. If you cannot provide words of encouragement why involve yourself with his business?
I understand criticism and the effect that it can have on making a change but if we do that to everyone constantly then we lose our own ability to grow. Personally I like new people and that's what keeps a forum thriving. Some here appear to ignore anyone that does not conform or they remind themselves of their own inexperienced youths and rather than ridicule, we should embrace it not look for any and every opportunity to bury it because perhaps we were ourselves at one time or another.
I do concede that if you are going to use a confident/cocky approach then you have to be prepared for tough battles when you inevitably lose. Sometimes people don't always respond well after getting knocked down and others it only makes them stronger. I think Flipper is the latter.

I would love to see the kid come back, but nothing will change. The first time he picks a loser I'm gonna tell him he can't pick a winner with tomorrows paper. That's part of the unchanging culture here. It's up to him to assimilate, not the entire forum to suddenly chance to accommodate his feelings.

#280Ra77er you know how it is here, you have to have thick skin. The ribbing is harsh, and doesn't end. Flipper made the mistake of identifying with this forum, it became personal. I can't stand Lkid1, but he was right on. The transition was easy to see, Flipper won a few games, JJ started giving the kid attention and Flips started taking it too sersiously. And him taking this seriously was ultimately his downfall here.
