Clayton Kershaw signs 2 year 19 mill extension

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-0...-contract.html

Thats a fukin joke, 9.5 mill??? If i was him i would not settle for nothing under 15 million.

    CC makes 23
    Halladay 20
    Verlander 20

    and Kershaw makes 9.5....

He's still a young pitcher under team control, you can't compare his salary to free agent pitchers.

Better than the 500K he made last year.

He was arbitration eligible for the first time.

gotta wait 6 years to get paid most of the time. he asked for about 10 million a year for arbitration.

seems like a great deal for LAD when you consider Lincecum had asked for 21 million for arbitration this year and got a 2 year 40 million dollar contract extension.

Lince is gonna be 28, Kershaw is four years younger so technically on the next arbitration hearing they'll get raped.

they won't have to go to arbitration now unless he does bad or gets hurt in 2012 or 2013 and they feel like he won't earn much for the last year of control in 2014. he is a free agent then I believe. unless maybe he was a super two?

Giants did the same with Lincecum. 2 year extension to avoid arb in 2010 and 2 year extension to avoid arb this year.

If Kershaw continues his ways, i'm sure the Dodgers will try to lock him up til 2018 or more after next year.

yeah i'd pay more for Kershaw at this point, younger lefty. I'm sure his agent will want to test the market after 2014.

Kershaw asked for 10M in arbitration. LAD offered 6.5.

So assuming the two sides reached an agreement before the arbitration hearing, they probably would have met somewhere in the middle, say 8.25M.

Next offseason, assuming Kershaw remained healthy in 2012, his arbitration number would have grown to the 11M range.

Either way, Kershaw was looking at around 19M over the next two seasons.

Kershaw has one more season of arbitration eligibility -- following the 2013 season -- before he's eligible for free agency in 2014.

he couldn't. he is under Dodger control for 3 more years. then he can sign with whomever he wants unless he signs a longer extension with LAD before that

Jays have the money to spend.. GM is just waiting for the right time to strike. It's going to be a great season with Lawrrie, Bautista..Cordero is a muhc needed piece.. I don't know about you but im relieved we didn't sign Fielde or any other overpriced sluggers. Jays will make the playoffs one of these years.
