Sportsbook Question On Moving From USA To Costa Rica

I'll try to keep this Short and Sweet:

So I'm looking to move to Costa Rica in about 6 months. So my question is:

If I move to Costa Rica, what Exactly would I have to do to become 100% Legal to place bets on All Sportsbooks. I want to make sure if I do it that i'm 100% Legit and don't have to worry (as much) about the bookmakers trying to not pay out.

I'm assuming the answer is to:

    1. Change My Mailing Address to where I'll be Renting.
    2. Open a Bank Account in Costa Rica
    3. Apply for a CC issued in Costa Rica
    4. Register with all of the Bookmakers with a Costa Rica Address.

If you guys/girls could provide ANY insight, experiences, knowledge or additional information on this it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm Sorry for the Double Post (Also Posted in Newbie Forum), but I couldn't figure out how to Delete it from the Newbie Forum.

With a CR id and utility bill in your name, you should have no problem opening up at any shop.

why would you play at costa rica books? they are dodgy to say the least

you can register at any book you want, even at pinnacle and The Greek were you know your money is safe

my guess is all you will need is a bank account, address and ip address that will not be US, pretty certain your nationality will not be a factor

That was another question I had... Do you need to actually establish "residency" in CR in order to Register with Online Books ? I'm currently a US resident and Most of the Good Books are off limits to US. It seems that if I was atleast living in CR (Utility Bill, Bank Acct, CC, and Address all in CR) that I could register on almost every book bc I'd be living in CR. Is this correct ? That is where I am not sure.

I don't necessarily want to bet at CR books, but I'd like to be able to register with ALL of them if possible (Or atleast the preferred ones) that we cannot register here with in the US.

I will be renting for at least a full year so my primary residence will be in CR even though I will not technically be a "resident". There are all types of stipulations to becoming an actual CR resident unfortunately.

Why would you move to costa rica to sports bet when you will still have to pay for payouts, wait for payouts, and pay all the fees to send money? In vegas you can stay in the country and get instant payouts and not have to deal with shady offshore books. Cash in hand right after you win a bet beats the hell out of waiting a week and having to pay fees

I understand where you're coming from, but my Sole Purpose to move isn't to have access to Online Sportsbooks. I love Surfing & that is one of the best places in the World to Surf. Plus, I am a Florida Resident currently and it costs about $100 Round Trip for my to Fly there.. If not cheaper. I've just recently gained an interest in Sports Betting, but I don't wanna get involved in Online Books in the US because from what I've read, it's a Huge hassle in USA.

still, if you provide a utility bill with a cr address you will be able to register at any book in the world

not sure about costa rica books though, I had read in an sbr post some time ago that costa ricans are not allowed to play at costa rica books, dont know how true that is and if it applies to residents or citizens or both

Thank you zsr ! Now, I'm just hoping I will be fully prepared to be able to Register and what not once I get there. I'm hoping someone on here has moved from the states to a Foreign Country (obviously preferrably Costa) and can share their experience with the move / registration. I just am not sure if I can register as Costa Rica on the Books if I am not technically a "resident" as I will just be renting.

When you say Costa Rica "Books" are you saying Locally (In Person) or do you mean Costa Rica Online Books ?

I'm thinking even if worse case scenario, I can't place bets with CR Online Books... At least I'll have access to 95% more Online Books then I would have in the USA ya know ?

Correct. But you really don't need to. You get to use pinnacle, betfair, all the european books, moneybookers, neteller, etc.

I definitely appreciate all of the input. Really, what I was hoping to get out of the post is someone who has moved from the states (USA) to Costa Rica (or some other third world country) and know what needed to be done to be able to register.. (ie: Will I need to get my Driver's License there ? Can I be a "Rentista" (Rentor) and still open a Bank Acct / Apply for CC ? etc..

I'm not really sure what your point is... When I said third-world countries, I literally mean other "third world countries"... Costa Rica is the country I have asked about and YES, although it is technically an outdated term, Costa IS a third world country... I'm sorry if for some reason this offends you.

Because I'm not moving for the SOLE purpose of being able to Gamble at Online Books. My primary reason for the move is to be able to Surf and live in a country I've always wanted to live in for as far as I can remember. It wasn't until recently that I became interested in Sports Betting

rentista is not a rentor. That's a false cognate. Rentista is a pensionor.

I believe they are two different categories... They are combined in required income, but A Pensionor is a Retiree collecting on their Pension or Retirement Account and a Rentista is a Rentor with similiar proof of income requirements.

I could be wrong, but this is what I have gathered...

"Of late, the Costa Rican government has been trying to pass a new immigration bill where the main issue in question is raising the minimum monthly income requirement for pensionados and rentistas. For a pensionado (a retired person), it would mean a raise from $600 to $1,400 a month and for a rentista (a renter) from $2,000 a month to $5,000 a month.
If the new bill was to pass, it would mean fewer foreigners purchasing property in Costa Rica for several reasons. The first is that many people chose Costa Rica because the cost of living is lower and that a retiree´s pension used would cover all of their needs and more in Costa Rica while being able to live in a year round warm climate.
Thus, of the pensionados who could afford to purchase a house in Costa Rica less of them would be able to meet the monthly income requirements under their pension plan and it would even be worst for a rentistas.
For the current pensionados and rentistas, the committee will be taking testimonies for the proposed immigration law today. The main issue in question will be whether the law is retroactive or not and to make sure that it is clearly stated in the new bill. If the new bill is not retroactive then current pensionados and rentistas are urging that it be clearly stated in the bill."
