Dave Dombrowski Goes After Fielder But Not Puljos?

You knew Mike Ilitch allowed you the access to the funds...

You knew you were going to get someone LARGE...

You choose the son of Cecil Fielder?

As a Tigers fan... I just don't know if this large contract was worth it? Let alone... the player.

Doesn't take much talent to play first base you meat head. They were going after Fielder regardless. He could play 1st base or DH.

A career .282 hitter shouldn't get a 214 million dollar contract. There is absolutely no value in this a$$hole. He's got 2 solid years (if that) left... with his heavy frame... I don't see wtf the Tigers were thinking?

to play 1st base well takes lots of talent. but as a fill in position for a hitter, yea it happens.

Tigers line up is looking nice right now... not sure how you don't like the signing... don't let your dislike for cecil get in the way of the prince

smart move, less of a gamble than on Pujols who is too old for a big contract, and might be older than we know, already on the decline, and injury prone.

I'm just trying to figure out what's going to happen now in Detroit? Prince is a proven slugger... Milwaukee has always been a great baseball team... they just haven't produced. Is it Fielder? I remember him laughing a few times last year when he should of been more serious. I question his integrity.

ESPN claims... batting order could go

    3rd Fielder
    4th Cabrera.

But I like Cabrera first then Fielder.

My other concern is positioning. Cabrera said he would move over to 3rd base leaving 1st base to Fielder. But, we all know more shots are hit to the left side... I question Cabrera's arm at 3rd. Also, wear and tear diving for balls etc. Where does Inge go? Do they trade him or waive him? He will turn 35 this year... is it his time to go? With such a big contract... Dombrowski is basically saying 'Everyone go Fu#$ themselves... we're building around Cabrera and Fielder now. You don't like it... get out."

Ilitch is 83. Not surprised. His World Series hopes were severely damaged by the Martinez injury He wants a World Series very badly, lifelong dream, former minor league player in the Tigers organization. Stanley Cups are nice but..... Heck he has the money, attendance will be great good for him. Great signing. Baseball should be fun

they would def. be getting a harder work ethic w pujols ... but like I said, hes been on the decline the last 2 yrs w injuries... even though his decline is still AllStar numbers... I dont believe he is older than he says he is, he went to freaking HS is Mo. ... he not a cuban national or anything ... we will see what pans out, Pujols's arm blows out in 9 yrs or Prince dies from a massive heart attack secondary to coranry artery disease.

I can't confirm this... because I don't know the entire story... never investigated or researched it... but apparently when the Ilitch's opened up their first Little Caesars Pizza place in Garden City, Michigan in 1955 or so... that's when it all started??? But... a lot of people have opened up Pizza shops??? So I don't know? I guess hard work pays off? I even heard rumors that Mike use to live in a flat above someone else's home. That him and his family rented. They didn't have that much cash flow. But again... who knows the real truth? The guy is a genius though and I take nothing away from his accomplishments. I do remember he got a loan to pay for the Detroit Red Wings... I believe in 1983? Or so??? Again... off the top of my head??? And the Detroit Red Wings (at the time) was the lowest franchise to purchase in the NHL.
