highly doubt it. why in the world would they want to? when have college coaches worked out in the nfl? i understand hanbrough worked out great, but he has a family history and former player in the nfl, as well he ran a pro style offense at sanford.

colts also don't need andrew luck

Why do people keep comparing this situation to steve young and montana or favre and rodgers. It's not the same. If manning can play 2 more years,he can play 3

They need a real #1 rb, 2 offensive lineman and a overhaul on defense. They could get 4 picks for luck and still draft a qb in round 3 or 4

Why do you think they're cleaning house right now? They got rid of the coach and GM. Manning isn't starting from scratch with a new coach in Indy.

I think Manning's days in Indy are done. You do not draft a potential franchise QB like Luck to have him sit on the bench for 3 years(The reports are they will draft Luck). I do not think Colts heirarchy believe Manning will recover enough to be an elite QB in this league. I guess we will find out in a couple of months.

The only wrong move would be to keep both Manning and Luck. They are idiots if they don't move one of those assets to improve other areas.

I think that move only would have happened if Caldwell stayed. If he stayed, they could have tried to win in the interim while Luck developed, but that's not happening now. They need a ton of bodies and the owners know it. One particular guy getting hurts ends your season.

    Peyton is gone.

We'll find out March 8th (at the latest). Thats when Mannings $28 mil bonus is due. They could draft Luck and let him sit for 1 year to see where Manning is at but I don't see the point? If Manning can play then he'll prob get knocked out anyway with our (live in Indy) $hitty O-line and they prob won't be competitive til atleast 2013-14 anyway? I'm sure teams want Manning but Indy isn't paying $28 mil to trade for unproven college kids. They should just cut Peyton & start the rebuilding process already. Reggie Wayne is gone and prob Robert Mathis too?

Caldwell - "but didn't you tell me to suck for Luck"
Irsay - "Good job but now we want to go in another direction"

Did you not read the rest of it? Peyton Manning made the Colts and Joe Average fan in Indy might go nuts but the variables don't look good.

    A. He might be physically done anyway
    B. Our O-line sucks and might get him knocked out anyway
    C. They need fresh talent everywhere and 8-8 is prob about the best they could do with a premium Peyton
    D. How can they sign free agents or high draft picks with Manning taking up 1/3 of the cap?

Do I need to spell it out further?

should've been done a while ago. I guess they wanted to pretend the new GM has power. Would they really have hired someone who said he wanted to keep Caldwell?

    Caldwell never was the coach...

Caldwell being "fired" actually means Manning is being released...

I live in Indy and hear alot of things....one rumor out there is Kirk Ferentz from Iowa. Personally I like Greg Schiano from Rutgers if they went the college route....if he's even interested? I always thought Brian Billick was a pretty good coach too. He just never had much offensive talent with the Ravens because they were spending so much on defense.

payton has max 2-3 years...and one hit and he could be done....neck injuries are tough.

Colts should trade payton and get draft picks and rebuild around luck.

They arent winning shit over next couple of years even with manning....several key players are leaving. Colts as a dynasty we know doesnt exist anymore.

Certainly a chance that we have seen the last of Payton playing.

    Hope not, but think so.

Have to think that Coopers situation might make him think twice about neck injuries.

Any other player at the end of his rope knows when to hit the door. Lt, rice, emmitt, etc. and it's was no secret. Why doesn't peyton know that his time has run out?

Rice with the Raiders....Emmitt running about a 4.8 forty with the Cards....guess you don't remember? The guy deserves a chance to keep his career going if his body lets him. On the other stupid repeat comments....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS BROTHERS SPINAL CONDITION. There have been other players with this fusion surgery that have kept playing so thats not the issue. The issue is the nerves running thru his right arm may not be strong enough to throw the ball at the NFL level. Its not a life threating condition or where he might be paralyzed. We hear all the medical reports here in Indy and he would be retired already if that was the case.

Did none of you see the pass Andrew Luck caught for a TD this year? The guy is a multitalented athletic stud. It's obvious that not only will both Luck and Manning be on the Colts together, but they will be on the field simultaneously. Manning will be in the pocket doing his thing while Luck will move around from slot to wide out. Manning will backwards pass to Luck a handful of times per game creating chaos in opposing defenses. They will win the superbowl next year with this innovative new offense, sharing Superbowl MVPs.

Kinda unlucky, especially since Manning was hurt and the team sucks when he's not playing.

The people coaching the Colts were the assistants and Peyton Manning. Caldwell was clueless and couldn't coach pee wee. Quota filler.

Raiders just went "oh crap" because now there is another open coaching job that is better than theirs.
