How many people think the Ravens can beat the Pats SU?

Most already writing them off, some say they may cover because the spread is high but who thinks they can win this game outright?

Really crazy how nothing changed yet the line changed from -3.5 to -7.5/-9...........

    Is Ed Reed hurt bad?

Are these teams that much different than a few years ago? Pats are soft like the Saints and Packers.

The Ravens ML is rather low for this spread.

Broncos/Texans game are meaningless now but the perception from them is not.

I really don't want to see the stupid Pats in the Super Bowl.

Ray Lewis is going to will them to victory with his pop warner hype routine and 5.2 speed. Flacco also 25/30 3 TDs

Tom Brady is better than Brees and Rodgers. Brees is shit when he's not in a dome and Rodgers isn't quite at the level that Brady/Peyton Manning are at.

I don't see Joe Flacco being able to keep up with the 30+ points that Brady is gonna put up.

Ravens might cover but they'll have to pick Brady off a few times if they have a chance winning SU.

Dude Ravens defense will give Tom Brady fits. Plus New England's defense is soft as sh*t. I already played small on Ravens ML and definitely Ravens +8.

Patriots beat the Broncos for God's sake. This coming week they will get punched in the mouth and a heavy dose of Ray Rice.

    Ravens win 31-10.

Spread is way too high. Blueprint for beating new England has been set, they scored at will against a terrible and overrated broncos defense and everyone thinks there super bowl favorites. Ravens ML

I don't disagree but I don't know about that score line.

Ravens should be able to run all over them.

Wrong. Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers have the majority of the Super Bowl wins in the past decade. Elite offenses win Super Bowls, elite defenses aren't good for shit against offenses led by the best quarterbacks.

I remember a huge write up earlier this year of why New England has a huge advantage against Baltimore. Baltimore loves to play SU man to man... Tom Brady strength is man to man with precision passing. Does Baltimore go back to man to man? Or will they play zone more often? You can only beat Tom Brady with zone. You can not blitz and play man to man every down. Tom Brady is like a human computer... he knows every single read... knows where to go with it. He can only be beaten... with zone coverage... and hope the front four can get to him.

No randy moss, better TE's, average RB's, downgrade on defense.

Improved WR's, more mature Flacco that still sucks, older defense, Rice peaking.

It is a joke, how do you go from -3.5 to -9???

Inflation on Pats blowing their loads on the Broncos who had no hope.

    Spread is inflated by 'recentism'.

Ernie above is right though, Baltimore will have to have a heck of a defensive gameplan to offset their weakness in the safety positions. Otherwise it becomes a shootout and there is only one winner in that sort of game.

Ravens haven't played a good offense all season. Philip Rivers is the only semi-elite QB the Ravens played, and the Chargers lit the Ravens up 34-14. There's no evidence this Ravens team can even stop a competent passing attack -- never mind an offense led by Tom Brady.

Steelers played man to man press and he couldnt move the ball.

Jets played man to man press in the playoffs last year and he struggled and lost.

Of course they can win. Pats certainly SHOULD win, but its far from a guarantee.

Pats D is fairly healthy, Flacco and Rice could be in for a long day

Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, and Gronk all weren't on the team in the playoffs two years ago -- stop comparing that to next week's game. Completely different personnel and style of offense. It was a vertical passing game that relied primarily on Randy Moss two years ago, and now the Pats run a diverse spread offense that gets the ball to everyone and creates mismatches with the two tight ends and Welker.

yerp Gronk/Hernandez are discardable. same team. wow

Balt tries to blitz every play like 09 and theyll get killed by those 2. Dont blitz and they you have slow clowns like Suggs and Lewis trying to cover em

Better comparison is: this is the same team that couldnt beat man to man by the jets and steelers. They beat a bad bronco defense and suddenly there back to elite

Subtract Moss & add Gronk to the team that has beaten one playoff team this year. That team was 8-8 by the way. If SF can beat red hot NO, I see no reason to believe Balt can't beat NE with the worst defense in the playoffs.

Pats put up 30 and 37 on the Jets this year, where have you been? The Steelers defense played Brady well, but that loss was primarily the defense's fault -- I think the Steelers had a time of possession around 40 minutes that game, the Pats defense couldn't get off the field.

Of course i meant the playoff game last year. Obviouly not same jet team this year..

The formula is the same. Ray Rice should have a field day, baltimore should use the same game plan the jets and steelers used, and the result should be the same. Pats still dont have the talent on D to stop Rice or at wideout to beat that type of defense.

Ravens ML went to +270 from +305 rather fast at Pinnacle.

Lot of books raised the spread but lowered the ML....

If anyone lays money against Tom & Bill this year they deserve to lose. the line could have opened @ -13.5 and I still would have taken NE :

Anyone here thinking the Pats are the bullies in this match up just DON'T KNOW FOOTBALL.

Ravens are more physical, hit harder and have a strong armed QB with a solid rushing attack. Patriots play in weak @ss AFC conference where the Bills even beat them. This is a typical paper and soft #1 team this year that will fall when the physical play off caliber teams take them on.

Look how soft the Patriots schedule was this year....the two teams that are physical play-off caliber teams they faced all year (Giants and Steelers) both beat them. Everyone else was average or below average at best.

Ravens take this 31-10 or 31-13.

Yep, because the obvious cherry-picking example you want to use is not the two most recent games.

The formula is the same. Ray Rice should have a field day, baltimore should use the same game plan the jets and steelers used, and the result should be the same. Pats still dont have the talent on D to stop Rice or at wideout to beat that type of defense.
Stopping a running back (ie. Ray Rice) is a particularly easy task for a defense. Since when have running backs been lighting up the Patriots to a degree great enough to outpace Tom Brady?

It's interesting that when the Pats lost to the Giants this year, Brady threw for almost 350 yards and Gronkowski had over 100 yards and they still only scored 20 points. The last playoff game vs the ravens, Brady had a QB rating under 50. The crazy thing is Flacco's rating in that game was 10 and they still beat the Pats by almost 20. Some teams are just bad match ups for others. Any defense with a pulse seems to be a bad matchup for NE.

    Yeah okay....past decade...

Rodgers had the #2 ranked defense for his ring

Both of Brady's rings, he had the #1 and #2 ranked defense

Giants win the superbowl with defense against the 16-0 super offense patriots 17-14

Peyton had great defenses for the Colts dominant stretch

oh and you left off the Steelers who won two with elite defense
