Reminds me of when I was in college, and there was bear sighting; the rest of the school year people would call in and say they saw a bear on so and so corner, which usually would be a super busy corner where a bear would never go. It was pretty funny.

I don't think you give people/authorities enough credit on a tip but yea I'm sure they are fielding millions of bogus sightings. It could possibly be a nice smokescreen but I don't believe they were prepared for actually getting out all the way. Lots of focus on the actual task at hand (breaking out) and mistakes in the long term.

Because we were unprepared for this. Roadtrip posted all the red flags already. Piss poor work by that prison obviously. When we show up for a military maneuver we are in control on our terms. This situation is apples to oranges.

Yeah, this is cyberspace and all, where most things are processed abstractly... but how hard is it to step back for a moment and really realize the profound pain & destruction these two murdering scumbags inflicted upon many people (family/friends of those slain).

Sure, things out there in the world for public consumption (like this situation) can be joked about...to an extent; but some going off the rails rooting murderers on and wishing ill/harm upon the police. Anyone that ever had to deal with a murdered family member in real life wouldn't be making dumb throwaway posts to message boards hoping they never get caught. Shame on you.

The problem was that the tip was a week old before they moved resources to investigate thoroughly. With so many tips coming in, vetting the substantial ones was the bogus ones takes time. Unless these guys hang around an area or make a significant mistake, the cops will stay a step behind.

Totally unprepared. After reading some of the findings about the prison, it's hard to believe someone hasn't escaped before this. Heads will roll!

I said it earlier in this thread, but railways are the way to go. Overland routes through countryside, minimal public exposure and expedient travel, they can get a long way in short amounts of time.

Perhaps... certainly true for some posters... a low-life POS is a low-life POS... I personally couldn't care less about race when evaluating people... judge solely on actions of the individuals... others feel similarly... So, what is the best scenario for these two convicts to get into Canada? Car help - hike through a remote access - helper go through with car and then get further away. This would depend on the skill of the helper - maybe practice the technique a couple of times first. I just don't see Canada being a factor unless the helper has a drop dead safe haven scoped out?

Forgive me Roadtrip, I missed earlier posts but you were correct about railways or at least I agree completely. I can imagine these guys focusing so much effort on the actual escape part but failing in the bigger details. I'm sure they were well aware of the track record at that prison before this all started so they put tons of effort on the escape but not enough on the rest of it. I think they really believed ole girl would be there with the car and when she didn't they had to bail and are making mistakes like crazy without even realizing it.

OK boys, it may be getting close to capture time. Just heard that the latest search area is Owls Head in Franklin County, an area roughly 20 to 25 miles west of the prison. It was reported that a DNA match places them at a cabin in that area within the last 24 hours.

Could this be more misinformation or are they really on the verge of being captured?

A hunter noticed a man running from his cabin that is deep in the woods and not near any roads. It looked like they had broken in for food. CBS News reported that DNA from at least one the escapees was found in the cabin near Wolf Pond, in the Saranac Lake region.

Seems pretty fast to get a DNA test done. Only 1 man was spotted, where was the other? Was the other guy hiding in the woods, did they split up, is one of them injured or dead?
