NY Yankees Just Got Michael Pineda Rookie of the Year from Mariners

New York Yankees and GM Brian Cashman looks like they raped Seattle with this trade. But Seattle probably got a much needed potential stud bat and a #4 pitcher in return. Yankees still got the more proven commodities in this deal. More importantly Yankees sure up their pitching rotation heading into 2012.

    Yankees Trade: Catcher- Jesus Montero

    Pitcher - Hector Noesi

Seattle Trades: Pitcher - Michael Pineda (2011 Rookie of the Year)

Pitching Prospect - Jose Campos (guy can throw in the mid-90's)

very interesting trade, mariners have a lot of good sp prospects so they did this to get a badly needed hitter. campos is no joke either, and pineda should make a run at 15 wins with that offense

I'm trying to figure out how the Yankees "raped" them when trading you're best hitting prospect mariners made out good.

Bottom line....if the Yankees can get Phil Hughes straight and Manny Banuelos pans out like he looks like he will the Yankees SP rotation will be set for the next 7-10 years.

Pineda looks to be a 200 strike out a year pitcher and an innings eater as well. Kid is only 22 years old.

Sabathia, Pineda, Nova, Hughes and Banuelos. Not bad....have youth too.

They didn't rape Seattle. They certainly got a lot better in hurry though.

    Sabathia
    Pineda
    Kuroda
    Burnett
    Garcia

    Nova/Hughes

Feeling Hughes gets dealt at some point this year.

Ivan Nova is in the starting 5. Burnett or Hughes will compete for the last rotation spot.

The only thing positive about the M's trading a pitcher is that Safeco is such a pitcher friendly park that lesser pitchers tend to look better than they really. However, Pindeda is the real deal. If he can be effective with the changeup, he's has moments where he's nearly unhittable. I think you'll guys see this next year.... I also have seen stretches where Pineda tries too hard and loses command of his fastball...could be something that occurs early in the season, as he is going to want to pitch hard in NY.

Very true but you have to remember the kid is only 22. Very good raw talent and huge upside. Has the potential to be a #1 ace himself two to three years down the road.

no chance montero was their second best hitter, give me a break. yea he looked good in what 17 games he played, he was going to dh because they know hes a terrible catcher so that hurts his value as well

Believe me, I know how old he is. Diehard M's fan and he does have the potential to be a #1. Pineda will learn that he doesn't have to be perfect with every pitch and when this clicks, he's going to be even more formidable. That an developing a good offspead pitch.

Yankees like Austin Bromine better anyhow as their future catcher. Definitely dealt from a position of strength.....Cashman with a stud move. Mariners are idiots.....traded Adam Jones and three other players for Erik Bedard once also.

M's have made horrible move after horrible move. It's hard to sit and watch. With that being said, their team is very talented. Hopefully they hang on to their talent. I also think they should trade Ichiro ASAP!

Pineda will be on an innings limit this season, so temper your expectations. He will still be plenty good though, but the Yankees are going to need 6+ starting pitchers down the stretch. If he can stay healthy and handle New York, the kids going to be very good....Cy Young good.

    Total crap shoot.

Pineda could be a flash in the pan

Nowhere near proven yet pitching in safeco in meaningless games

He has the skill set but does he have the mental make up which is all so important in ny

Ehhh Montero had some really good ABs at the end of last season. Pineda kinda fell off a little bit at the end but that's to be somewhat expected in a rookie season. In about 3-4 years both these guys could be all stars.
