    Really made me laugh

I was going to start a thread about buying the first storage locker I ever bought that didnt have either Porn or a mattress in it. But didnt think it would be all that exciting. Then I saw all the "bought my first" topics started so I figured I would do it.

So I bought my first one without a mattress or porn in it. It did have some tools a nice oil painting signed by a local artist, a nice ladies watch, a bunch of books, some old silverware (that is real silver), a bunch of clothes, and a few lamps, a small desk, a trunk with some old linens in it that might actually be worth something.

So all in all it might not end up being half bad. Still digging through a few things but obviously no coins or currency. some other jewelry that may be real or nice costume stuff havent had it looked at yet.

So I didnt get a sports franchise or a new car or a priceless painting I got a nice unit that I didnt have to take a shower after I walked into it.

its def. an interesting thing to do every once in a while...ive been to a couple around here, but didnt come across anything but absolute junk...i think the best looking unit went for 375 or 395 something like that...had some old tables and a grandfather clock that looked like ass...i guess it doesnt take to much to get it cleaned up and running though...

you can take most of the shit to goodwill and get a donation receipt...come out okay if you dont lose it before tax time..haha

way too many people here now. I did it for fun quite awhile ago and found some decent stuff but you could get units for less than 500 bux most of the time. Now anything halfway decent and packed goes for a couple grand. MOst so-s bigger ones go for 850-1200 these days.

You either have to overpay for stuff that is obvious or spend 3-4 hundred and gamble on stuff you cant see which is a unit with a bunch of boxes that could have anything in them.

The two guys is totally fake was at one taping of them last year. They wait for all the auctions to be over then they stage units with stuff people bought then use props as their 'finds'. Basically anything they sell to a guy at the end was the owner of it who let them use it in the show.

Storage wars is getting worse. Went to 3 auctions they were taping at. First two were some of the first shows they were doing. They didnt win shit so they had to make it look like they won some stuff in those shows. So they were really bidding just not winning. So to make it look good they had to fake their wins.

Last one I went to with them there was a few months ago, it just aired last month. It is a lot more fake now. They do almost the same thing as the other one. They have the auctions and then set up units for them to 'win'. Which are salted with good finds. The 'experts' they have on the show basically rent out their stuff to them and then have them get it appraised with them.

So Storage wars started out trying to be real, but like ghost hunters or destination truth or any other show that tries to portray 'reality', reality doesnt always cooperate so there is eventually a production that gets put into it.

I still watch them on TV because theyre funny and I like seeing them get their 'stars' winning all the auctions at a single facility. Which is impossible. There were supposed to be 8 auctions today 4 were canceled one faciility had 1 unit, the other had 3 units, the last one of that auctioneer had just 2 so 5 facilities had 6 units and 2 cancelled auctions. Second auctioneer had 4 auctions two were cancelled, the two that went off had 1 boat at one no units, the second had one little unit and a boat. That was it.

Tomorrow there is an abandoned property sale in Garden Grove 110 vaults, which are basically trailer truck sized wooden boxes of stuff. They take it out and can even split it up. But those things get about a thousand people and it is total hit or miss as most stuff is boxed in cardboard. Some stuff will be in unopened packages you can see but that stuff is generally bought for nearly retail these days. So it is a crap shoot.

I may go down though but still deciding.
