maybe its because im a lifelong pats fan/season ticket holder...love my team...love bill
but people love to bring up the people who have coached/worked under him and how they havent found success outside of the pats organization.....it just seems like people are trying to find what they can use to knock him down a notch
the o'brien hiring has them coming out again.....and who knows what will happen for him at psu
but i still dont get the hate
charlie weis- prob one of the guys most ready for a head coaching job....this guy revived the careers of quinn, maurice stovall and jeff samardija.....he took two teams to bcs bowl games....they were blown out but matched against teams that were superior athletically.....those teams overachieved....almost knocked off #1 usc .......nd still suffers from the same problems after him....
romeo-suffered from a bare cupboard...may be one of those guys that doesnt have the charisma/personality to be a head coach...but there has been little to no improvement in that organization even two regimes later
mangini-guy probably not ready for the gig at the time....was respectable with the jets.....but the jets arent much different since he left...drafted revis....drafted a few other key guys they have.....same old jets without him though....cleveland was a disaster ...cupboard bare....he left it bare too though in fairness....
mcdaniels-def not ready for the gig...probably the poster boy for teams pillaging the patriots for coaching talent simply because their organization is a winnner.....the guy did have a strong buzz going for a minute there with orton/marshall.....similar to the buzz they had going this year....which you could make a claim he is partly responsible for......time will tell if fox/elway can take this organization to the next level....
scott pioli- pioli has done a decent job of making the chiefs respectable.....they made the playoffs last year....which was a suprise....but reality hit them this year with a tougher schedule...prob not a true playoff team the year before....but hes done a good job of stocking them with some talent....tyson jackson might be a bust....but theres some other solid pieces with moeaki, baldwin, eric berry, rodney hudson, mccluster....
tom dmitroff- has done a great job with that organization....built them into a perennial playoff team.....alot of talent there....people tend to forget about this man when mentioning people that have worked with bill in the patriots organization......hes been pretty successful....
overall when i look at the situations...i see most of the teams/programs in no better shape now than when these guys left......you can argue that some of these guys left the teams in bad shape....but i also think they took over some pretty destitute clubs/programs ....i feel people love to mention their lack of success to take shots at bill.....some of these guys probably should have never been head coaches in the first place.....but thats what happens when you win...everyone wants a piece
